More Verizon Commercials Bash AT&T Service

Fresh off the heels of the Droid launch last week, Verizon just released its new holiday ads, featuring the same 3G coverage maps that appeared in previous ads.

The latest anti-Apple commercial features an iPhone banished to the "land of misfit toys." While Verizon did add a disclaimer at the bottom of the screen explaining the illustration (highlighted in the image), I'm wondering if AT&T will have similar issues with these ads. Not only are they showing the map in question from previous commercials, they're also taking a direct hit at the iPhone — and ending the commercial by showcasing their brand new phones.

As an avid Apple hater, I thought the commercial was pretty hilarious! I do however prefer the HTC commercial of everything iPhone doesn't, Droid Does! I would never go to Verizon, where I live T-Mobile coverage is amazing and much cheaper, but I do have a version of the HTC because I have the MyTouch.

lol I love that commercial, not because it "bashes" ATT but because its funny. If I had a job I would go to verizon right now and upgrade my phone to the droid or an HTC.

Personally I have had both services. I have AT&T now because they had the Iphone. The other phones similar have not quite caught up to the Iphone. I am sure in the future they will but it will take time. As for service it is the same. I agree the ad is just going after AT&T and competition is good.

like in previous ads, they CLEARLY say 3G. i love my macbook pro, but i also love my verizon cell phone plan, this and the "map for that" ad doesnt bother me either way though...verizon very very clearly states they mean 3G coverage. they showed it in the map and said it out loud here, and mentioned it 2 or 3 times as well as printed in the other one as well. also i dont really think you mean anti apple as much as you mean anti at&t...some apple users get so worked up over everything lol. a lot of people will be misled but id say thats more having consumers that don't pay enough attention...the ad says "3G" a number of times. a lot of people will also not care so much b/c they dont think 3G is all that special, and maybe its not for some people, but they dont automatically assume at&t has nearly no coverage. personally, while yes these ads obviously play off of at&t its not anti apple as much as bringing another side to it. i have a blackberry and use it a lot; but what i hate is smartphone users (any kind, andriod, bb, iphone) who get all excited about having a really great phone and cant use it. they cant use it to get directions, look something up, pull up a map, find a recipe, etc...all the reasons they were *omg so excited* to get the phone for. this ad just goes to show how completely clueless some consumers are, verizon is laying out facts straight even while making commentary at other companies, though the phenomenon isnt really uncommon.
