It sounds like everyone is universally excited about the new pricing and specs for the new MacBooks, but one area where I'm hearing different things is in the design. The new MacBooks look like the new Pros, with black glass corner-to-corner around the screen, and black keyboards like the Air has always had. This is obviously different than the old version (still currently available as the $999 entry-level MacBook) that's all white plastic.
I try not to get too attached to any Apple design since it's inevitable that they get tweaked a little, and I'm also curious to see the changes they make, like the slick black edges and keyboard, but I've already heard a lot of dissent.
Tell me, do you think the new black design is better or worse?

1I love the new design. I think it looks so slick. I'll always love my white macbook, just because I saved up and bought it myself, but I'd love to have the new one!
except I think I'm going to save up, and go for a MacBook Pro, I love the double video card. I wanna be ready for Sims 3! haha
2I love the screen, but I guess I would prefer if the keys matched the rest of the macbook. so keep it all silver, if the body is silver.

5I would say it's better. Plastic Macbooks often get crack at the edge, aluminum design and new display, new track pad... those are great things... But new way of producing housing is also awesome...
But... No fireWire??? What's the point of iMovie if you don't have fireWire at your MacBook???
Movie making is not just for pros, and this is bad...
More people will go for MBP now, but many of them can't afford them!

7I think it looks too much like HP's notebooks. I'm sitting here typing on mine as we speak. I dunno. I'm not a huge Mac fan (which a lot find odd), but I still enjoyed how it looked fine in its own right. I could be wrong, but I love the slick white of them.

11Apple's trademark is white and I love the old Macbook design - in both black and white. I'm not a fan of silver products and I don't like the fact that the keyboard is black either.

13Ehh I have mixed feelings on the new models. I currently have a MacBook Pro from February that is silver, and i'm absolutely in love with it. So i'm not to sure at how the new ones will look until I get a hands on review.

15bleh - i like the plastic macbooks. i am actually sad they are going away from plastic - i loved the plastic.
i think it looks prettier (although white glass would probably be prettier still) while it's clean, but i can't imagine it staying that shiny for too long, at least in my hands haha... my phone, ipod and laptop can all testify to this! anything that travels with me on a daily basis gets scratched, printed, and busted-up-looking in no time
16I think it's gorgeous. I really would love one, but I have a MacBook from January that's still too awesome to upgrade.
17I like the new versions overall. Not a big fan of the aluminum with black keys, but both books look very slick and classy now. However, I got my MacBook Pro and iPod Touch in the last 2 months and now there are new versions of both! =( but... Apple is still amazing as ever!

19I'm not sure how I feel about the all glass screen... It's fine for the desktops, but it seems like maybe not so smart on a laptop. But I'd have to use one to really have an opinion... (sadly, I won't be near an Apple store anytime soon to play with one!) I'm happy with my year-old white macbook for now, amazingly I'm not sick of it yet - I find that I tend to get bored with electronics very quickly.

I was going to buy a laptop as soon as they came out but that's a deal breaker for me, no clue what they were thinking. Hopefully they learn their lesson quick and the next round will go back to the matte screens

26Looks quite similiar to the HP design, except with outer shell silver/white. I don't remember what the outer shell color was. I remember seeing the new MAC and I thought, HP!

29I like corner-to-corner glass on the screen, I love the new track pad, but i dislike the color combinations. I think it kind of looks old fashioned or a little too generic.
30Honestly, I think they look like Windows. Which is a shame, really, MacBooks were so distinctive. Even the old clam laptops were uber original. I like that all-over glass though.
31I think it looks sharp (I love the two-tone sexiness and the keys), and still like a Mac, but I'd be so worried about the glass...I don't know how safe that is for a laptop. I feel a lot better about my plastic Macbook. And what about smudges? Couldn't use cleaner on it, but glass kinda calls for it. And what about glare in sunlight? My Macbook is just tolerable in bright sunlight.
32Also, I'm wondering how it would look in a case. I'm a big fan of snap on plastic cases, and I love my purple one on the white Macbook. That wouldn't work so well with this....

i like the look of it. i wish the matte screen options for the 15/17 inches had the black bezel at least.
