Would You Pay 10 Bucks For Streaming-Only Netflix?

What if you could be a Netflix subscriber without ever dealing with the discs? Netflix CFO Barry McCarthy recently said that Netflix has plans to offer a streaming-only subscription plan at the Jeffries 5th Annual Internet and Media Conference.

No pricing was announced, but it's being speculated that the sub could cost $10, and it would presumably be unlimited.

I'm already streaming on my TiVo HD, so I'd highly consider it, but I have to admit I'd miss my little red envelopes. Seriously though, I'd also be wary of the definition and don't know if I'd give up Blu-ray rental.

Still, as long as there are more movies available and the smoother and faster streaming, it'd be an excellent option. Would you subscribe to stream-only Netflix?

The library of instant movies would definitely have to improve. But if it did, I'd be in.

If and only if the instant library gets bigger and more stable. I hate how they randomly remove and add things to "instant" viewing.

They would need to have ALL of the content available to stream. Right now the "instant" library sucks.

No. I got a new TiVo last week, and I couldn't get it to work with my Direct Tv so I had to return it and get a series 2 model. I don't have anything that I could use to stream it directly to me.

I like the price, too bad most people seem to think so poorly of their streaming. I haven't used netflicks in five years.

Good questions. I love that I can watch movies on my XBox 360 - I would pay $10/month under on condition; every movie has to be available. Like the other gals above me already said, the selection is not the greatest. Sure you find a gem every now then but that's it. But I find myself not finishing a movie more often then ever before. Also: Right now I'm having a FRIENDS marathon with a 2/unlimited/month subscription. If I were to switch to streaming only I really hope that shows would be available aswell. They currently have shows like Xena, Heroes, Hannah Montana up there, but they need more ;)So Netflix, make new and old movies (and TV shows) available and you got yourself a streaming only customer.

I don't know if you can adjust the quality or view hd streams with an Xbox, and I know you can't on the computer, unfortunately. Flat out, watching the streams on a computer, sucks. However, on the Roku player, I force every stream to be the highest quality (instead of auto adjusting for my connection) and every movie looks great! Also, most of the tv shows are in HD which looks sooooo good even streaming like that. I do not regret buying the Roku player at all and definitely enjoy watching the streaming movies a lot more with the higher quality. Something no one else has complained about that i <i>hate</i> is not being able to sort your queue. And why is there even an instant queue? It's pointless. There should just be a "bookmarks" or something and it should definitely be sortable! Going through my 145 movie instant queue is soooo painfull.

I would if the streaming was better than it is now. we hook up our pc to our tv and already watch quite a few of the "watch it now" movies. The selections isn't all that great but we can always find something interesting. (It helps if you like classic movies)

Absolutely NOT. Their streaming would a) need to be better quality b) need more movies c) need no expiration dates and d) need lower pricing. As it stands, I would never. I am a 2 at a time user w/unlimited streaming so I've got experience with it. LOL

I would definitely do streaming only. We watch our instant queue movies over the XBOX 360 now, and I much prefer it to having actual discs. Almost everything we watch streaming is HD, so that shouldn't be a problem.

So I have no idea what "speculation" you're talking about, but I would assume that streaming-only would have to be cheaper than their cheapest unlimited disc plan; probably $5-6/month.With that clarified.... I don't mind spending the extra $3/month to have a disc since the selection really is much much larger.
