In 2017, the Cassini mission will be consumed by Saturn's toxic atmosphere, and the Juno probe will crash on Jupiter. But that won't mark the end of the outer planet exploration program at NASA.
Dwarf planet Pluto, which Lori noted was one of her favorites, is due for a visit by New Horizon. The deputy chief also confirmed that future Discovery and Flagship missions are coming. As far as NASA's Mars-centric efforts go, Lori said that Mars is the "most likely other planet where humans can go, and since we are human, we seem to focus on that."
