Luxurious Geek: iPod Shuffle Dipped in Gold

There is something inherently wrong with coating something that's originally worth $79 in gold. When that something is an already brightly colored shuffle, which only has one gigabyte of flash memory, it's just plain ridiculous. Of course, that kind of reasoning never stopped anyone. Born Rich uncovered news that Germany's Xexoo is offering an iPod Shuffle covered in 18 carat gold for 14,000 EUR, or $10,000 USD. As if that wasn't enough, if you want your little shuffle to have diamonds you'll soon be in luck, as they are adding bling bling as an upgrade.
It always gets better, doesn't it?

Uhm..I dont get it..the euro is worth more than the dollar. So how come it costs 14 000 euro but 'only' 10 000 dollars? It should be at least 16 000...but maybe it's cheaper in America.

That may seem great when you get it, but one scratch on that thing and you would think about it more than all day. And if you missplaced it, you wouldn't sleep until you found it or got put on medication, because you had almost lost you mind over loosing you 10,000 tiny gold piece that you really didn't need anyway.

The new shuffles are so tiny, I would be worried that I'd lose it; but to have one that would dipped in gold is a bit crazy.

Seriously ... I don't see myself using it during my subway ride (that's what ipod's are mainly for, whatever the model ... no ?), I'm pretty sure I would be killed for it before the 2nd song. Well, on another hand, when you spend that money on a gold plated ipod, I guess you do not use public transportation that much.

I´m with rachiepop on this one - I don´t like ipod´s control in particular nor apple´s control in general. Regarding ipod´s I think there´s not so much serious competion around: samsung´s control isn´t the best either, sony is expensive and zune is not available in europe.
