Kodak Releases Rugged Pocket-Sized Playsport HD Camcorder

Kodak's Playsport Picks Up Where the Zi6 Left Off

5

The Kodak Zi6 was a worthy competitor to my Flip a few years ago, but coming out of CES this week is another entry that might just find its way into my bag. The Kodak Playsport pocket HD camcorder is just the thing I need for road trips with pals and, you know, the occasional camping trip. Its rugged waterproof exterior lets you to capture up to 10 hours of HD video (with expandable 32GB of memory) in any condition you can toss at it and still capture clear shots with image stabilization and face recognition.

The Playsport boasts a two-inch color LCD display and allows you to upload your videos (or stills) right to YouTube or Facebook with its built in USB and software. Sounds familiar, right? The only difference between this and other mini HD camcorders is that this baby can record in up to 10 feet of water. That's right, water. The Playsport comes in three colors (abyss black, wave crash blue, and rush purple), is compatible with both Macs and PCs, and will hit shelves in April for $150.
