How to Identify Your iPod Generation/Model

With all the great iPod accessories out there it can be hard to tell which ones will fit your iPod if you don't know what generation and model you have. While the differences between models may seem minuscule to the average eye, each generation and model offer different capabilities: The full-sized iPod model stores media on an internal hard drive, while the smaller iPod nano and iPod shuffle use flash memory. Size wise, each model changes with generation. As you can see in this picture, the original iPod (1st generation), which was released in 2001 seems huge in comparison to the current video iPod (5th generation) and my silver mini seems large in comparison to its last model.

My iPod had its third birthday in December, and it is definitely showing its age. And my best friend has the iPod on the left!

Haha...my original iPod isn't in that pic, but that one didn't do too well after 2 years...so I got a 5th gen one (video) and I love it :)

I'm still making my mini work for me. After more than two years I'm still loving it and hate the thought of it dying and me having to replace it. It's definatly durable I've dropped it several times and once the top part popped out and I saw the insides for a moment before I slammed it back on and hopped for a tomorrow, which came and the thing's still ticking.

my mini is still living, and I love it. Although I wouldn't mind something with a video option

it's strange. my 3rd gen still plays, but the screen is temperamental. it's kinda like having the world's largest shuffle. needless to say, i got a nano (easier for the gym too), and i love it. makes me take the music i really "need" with me all over town.
My 3rd gen battery is on its last legs. I replaced it with a 5th gen and I like it a lot. :)
my mini just died after 18 months....what ipod should i get next?
