We'd like to give a very special thank you to our Oscar sponsor Helio, who helped us bring you live red carpet coverage and just happens to be one of the coolest gadget makers around. To show our thanks for their sponsorship I hope you will check out their newly-launched slim and sexy phone that looks to be the new must-have in Hollywood - and not just because it's pretty.
The Heat is a gleaming slider phone with an electrostatic touchpad (think iPhone-like sleekness but available now!) that's chic, but has all the right geeky qualities. The touchpad is set so you can customize its sensitivity (super, high, medium, low) for navigation through a simple finger tap, which means no more pushing extra hard while trying to navigate through applications.
Produced by Samsung for Helio members in the US, the Heat comes in two colors: high-gloss Onyx and shimmering Gold. I am sure most of you know by now that you can read PopSugar on your Helio, but the company has added even more of your favorite websites and features to their service! read more
Earlier this month, Helio introduced Helio Music, which allows users to organize their music, create custom playlists and get instant access to their favorite tunes through their phones. It's a service that got the attention of Pete Wentz from Fallout Boys and celebs like Kim Kardashian and caught my eye because it means you get all the goodness of a MP3 player inside your phone.
The Heat features stereo Bluetooth support, 136MB available internal memory, 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom and flash for shooting photos and video MP3, MPEG-4 and VOD support. It also features Helio Music compatibility and built-in GPS capabilities for access to Helio services including GPS-enabled Google Maps for mobile and Buddy Beacon. Another chic and functional feature: the Helio service now allows users to interact with online communities like Boing Boing, Craigslist, Digg and Wikipedia.
