Have You Ever Taken a Course Online?

When I was in college online courses were still a little risky — or at least underdeveloped — but it seems more and more universities are offering online courses and even courses dedicated to online phenomenons like YouTube. It's a trend that is apparently infiltrating other age groups.

According to a recent North American Council for Online Learning (NACOL) survey, only 7 percent of all elementary or secondary students have ever taken an online course, while four in ten, or 40 percent, of all tweens are interested in taking an online course before graduating from high school.

I took a sort-of online course. All of the information was online, and we were in charge of doing assignments in our textbook and writing 10 essays. We met 4 times during the semester, twice for the midterm and twice for the final. I got a little behind and ended up doing most of the assignments right before they were due, but the review sessions were awesome, because the teacher was excellent at summing up the two halves of the course within the time given.I'd do it again!

i've taken several...my comment got so long i blogged it over in grad school girls. here's a snippet of my advice: -- make sure the institution offering the course is accredited. this ensures the degree you're getting will meet minimum academic standards. elearners.com has a great article on the importance of accreditation here. if you're curious about a degree right now, check out the council of higher education accreditation's database of institutions and programs here.

I've taken one or two before, but I'm not a fan of the format. I feel like I learn better in a classroom setting. Although I have to admit that in a classroom, I'm more likely to slink back and not participate... but on the internet, I'm a regular chatterbox. Go figure.

I took one in the Fall of 2006. It was in a subject I wasn't really strong in (statistics!), but I chose it over taking it in a real class. And actually, it was really good for me. It made me keep up with the work, and through taking my time with writing my responses, I was able to get points for participation, which is something I probably never could have achieved had I taken a real class.

I took a bunch of online college courses and loved them! It was so great to be able to do the work when I could and turn in the work when it was ready, even if it was prior to the deadline. I highly recommend this form of education.

Yea I have. They're great (depending on the subject)! Some may say that they're easy than regular class but that not really true. I liked the fact that I didnt have to go to class physically or listen to a prof talk for over an hour. I simply had to read, participate and write papers.

I'm taking one right now! I have to though, I'm in law school part time and in order to keep my insurance I need to be a full time student. One online class gives me enough credits for that.

Online classes are what keep me in a job. When the professor delivers and designs them correctly, there are fabulous!

I took one in high school because it was a super easy course that was required to graduate - basically the whole thing was about the importance of getting an education, and it also taught budgeting skills and sex ed. Seriously! Plus, I got extra credit for doing it online so that made me happy :DAlso, a lot of my courses now have parts online. For example, one of them has interactive modules and related quizzes that have to be completed about once every two weeks.

I'm starting a Master's program where most of our courses are online. It's great, especially since I work full time.

My husband is taking a full term of online classes this term, because our unit was supposed to be training in Egypt but it got canceled...so there wasn't enough time to take regular classes. He likes it because he can work full time now and hang out with me...it's not that bad taking them online. It just costs a little bit more at our university.
