Geeky Weddings: How Far Will You Go?

With wedding mania in full effect here on the Sugar Network, we have found some pretty geeky ways for you to shop for those engagement rings and streamline your engagement announcements with technology.

Now that we're moving into the wedding planning stages, how geeky are you willing to go for your big day? Would you have a cake master create the ultimate geeky wedding cake, or even don some uber geeky cake toppers like this (totally awesome) Robot Couple from Etsy? Will your wedding be geek friendly, or totally traditional, despite your geeky ways?

We're probably going to go pretty geeky. I told my fiance about D&D minis as favors and he was all over it, lol. I've looked up a few ways to incorporate d&d into the wedding, but in a more unobtrusive way. Our vows are going to be romantic and d&d free. i'm dressing up with fairy wings and he's wearing some clothes from the pyramid collection that he likes (highway man style jacket with fold down boots). He loves d&d and i love live action role playing. I think a wedding should definitely relate to the couple. We definitely don't want a typical froofy wedding. It just wouldn't be 'us'.

I love it its fun. Though if the bride doesnt want to go for it thats what the groom cake is for or vis versa.

well id want the day to be fun for sure, but full of tradition old and new, and a few geekish things here and there, but nothing embarissing.

I had a sort of different theme as far as cakes go everything else was normal. We had Charming tails mice on our cakes, my husband and I found our cake topping ourselves mostly by accident but it fit us. If I had to to do over I'd probably go down the geeker road maybe a sci-fi theme of some kind. Before I married my husband I was way less geeker then I am now. His geekiness rubber off on me in a big way I guess you could say.

Well we are being somewhate geeky. We are having a wii station for fun and we're wearing pajamas at our reception and my faince's pj shirt is a take on the whole pirates vs ninjas war ( his being wizards vs hackers). I think the wedding shold definitely reflect the couples personalities, and we're both pretty cheesy and geeky so there will be a lot of little wierd quirks for our wedding.

I like the idea, but I've already had my wedding :( I would have loved to make things more personal and to be a reflection of the two of us. Oh well, maybe for the vow renewal.

what if my partner isnt into it?? hopefully he'll have a grooms cake, then. IM SO HAVING AMIDALA AND ANAKIN on top of my cake!!! it's going to be AWESOME!! and with any luck i can talk meh groom into going out of the church to a Star Wars medley! it's going to one unforgettable wedding!!

we're gonna have some geeky touches...like the groomsmen gifts will be personalized cuff links, like transformers for the brother who loves them, and daleks for the groom =) and we found a picture online of a dalek cake...if only i knew how much it would cost!

I think it'd be nice to have some geeky touches. A wedding is supposed to be a reflection of you and your partner, right? (Well, in my mind it is, anyway.) So showing off your geeky side makes sense.

Being geeky comes with trend I think, if I did an iphone wedding for example, in 50 years time it can look ridiculous...
