GeekSugar's Gift Guide For Gamer Guys

GeekSugar's Gift Guide For Gamer Guys

9

Now that I've got younger brothers, sisters, moms and dads taken care of in the gift guide department, what about those hard to buy for guys that are addicted to their gaming goods?

No need to fret, because I've got a wide range of options that fit a variety of budgets and are guaranteed to make even the biggest gamers happy during the holidays.

Don't you worry ladies - one for the gamer gals is on the way! And yes, this is just a general guide for those who are clueless about what to get a guy who is into video games. Thanks for the feedback :)

Since the rest of the "gift giving" guides were gender oriented, I don't have a problem with a guide for gamer-guys. I agree that the gift choices are a little hit or miss though, but only because a superserious gamer probably has the majority of that stuff. I'm biased, but I'd definitely recommend a DSi over a PSP Go if someone wants a portable gaming device. :)

You obviously haven't been here too long missy, Geek addresses lady gamers as well, not even with just the accessories. I agree that I pretty much want all of this stuff too but it's just a starter for those of us who don't play but happen to know guys who do, because let's face it, right now it's still a predominantly male culture. But you don't have to look at it and go "ooh, it says 'for gamer guys', I guess I can't get this stuff". By all means | : anyways~ I actually kinda want that Halo encyclopedia for novelty's sake. :P But I'm getting the Mass Effect and Halo books first.

Oh wah, this post isn't 'insulting'. It's suggestions as to what you could buy for a male friend who is a gamer. I'm a 'gamer girl' too. I think most of these are things a gamer guy would rather have anyway. There are a lot of posts pertaining to what a 'gamer girl' would like too, maybe you need to open your eyes a little. Like that PacMan necklace that was posted, I'd much rather have that than a 1Up beanie or a Halo encyclopedia (and I LOVE the Halo game series...).

I have to agree that these are the most overhyped games of the season and because they have both already come out they are terrible choices. Do you think any guy who wants these games is willing to wait 6+ weeks to get it for Christmas? Hell to the no. They already went out and bought it for themselves before you even knew what it was. I think the only actual useful gift suggestion on this list is the 1up beanie. Most people who own PS3's already have controllers and headsets.

Not to mention, good lord, do you know anything about games? Listing a PSPgo and two of the most over hyped and best selling games of the holiday season? And a Wii charging dock station? What the?

Wow just when I thought Geeksugar couldn't possibly be any more irrelevant when it comes to what women want regarding electronics, then you post a gamer GUY gift guide? News flash, a lot of women want these things too, not that one could tell from Geeksugar's content (I mean, guess the celebrity and their cell phone? Who cares?!?) You do a better job at anticipating needs for guys who game than you do girls who game (while simultaneously assuming we're all straight and attached), and that's just insulting on what is supposed to be a girl tech blog.
