I use Google Reader to check out new content daily, and have such a long list of blog reading that I'm addicted to checking it every hour — there's guaranteed to be a ton of new items every time I check. Sites that update with less regularity get lost in my reader, so I'm excited to have found out about Fliptop, a free service that alerts you when your favorite blogs and websites are updated.
To use the service, visit my.fliptop.com and drag the green "Subscribe" button onto your browser window. Then, when you visit a site you'd like to receive updates about, just click the link on your browser window, enter your email address (so you can receive notification) and specify when you'd like to receive the notification (as it happens, once a day, or once a week). It's a simple service but much appreciated — especially to keep tabs on what's happening on sites you may not visit every day. One catch: in order to work with Fliptop, a site must contain an RSS feed.
