Facebook Adds Like Button For the Internet

Facebook Extends "Like" Button to the Whole Internet

The Facebook "like" button — that cute little thumbs-up icon next to posts, photos, and status updates — is headed to the big time. Instead of just existing on Facebook pages, it's going to show up all over the web, according to a recent Financial Times article. The new like button will serve as a content-sharing tool across the Internet, allowing users to easily designate content they like anywhere. The functionality will be announced (and, presumably, rolled out) during this week's F8, the annual Facebook conference.

Unfortunately, no word on whether Facebook will ever offer a "dislike" button, even though the idea has over 3 million Facebook supporters. I'm guessing that is one addition that will not come from F8.
