Do You Give Gag Gifts?

Giving gag gifts has become somewhat of a tradition in my family, ever since my aunt gave me a box of strawberry Jello on Christmas morning back in '88. So after 20 years of Richard Simmons workout tapes, boxes of Kleenex, and Tucks Medicated pads, I wanted to switch it up a bit.

After much searching, I think I found the perfect gift: The Hacked and Frayed Flash Drive. This 2GB flash drive is only 30 bucks, but it will be totally priceless since Auntie will think I gave her a broken cable as a gag, when actually it's a working storage device.

It's the best of both worlds — useful, and gag-worthy at the same time! Awesome.

We always used to have a gag gift exchange at our Christmas party with friends. One year I gave a tribble that made noise and moved a little. Another year we gave a chronically single male friend lingerie, which he dutifully snuggled with for pictures. It's great if your friend's have a real sense of humor, not so much if it's just something stupid.

Want to buy someone a gag gift? Take a $20 bill. Go into the bathroom. Flush the $20 bill down the toilet. Same thing! Yay! Seriously, it's good for a laugh, then it's a burden. Unless, of course, it's -actually- useful, like this flash drive.

If I'm invited to a party where some sort of gift swap is involved I usually bring a gag gift. At one party I went to last year a couple each wrapped one of a pair of those elbow length dishwashing gloves. So extremely random, but people are still talking about it.
