Ashton Kutcher channeled Old Hollywood for the cover of Esquire's March issue wearing a dapper gray suit and smoking a cigarette among city skyscrapers. In the magazine, which hits newsstands Feb. 19, the actor opened up about portraying Steve Jobs in the biopic jOBS, his professional sports-betting past, and his true friends. He didn't give anything away about girlfriend Mila Kunis in the interview, though he did attend the premiere of her film Oz the Great and Powerful last night in LA. Here's more from Ashton Kutcher in Esquire:

  • On good friends and film failures: "I know exactly what films I've done that f*cking suck donkey. I know it because I have friends that don't hold back. They don't depend on me for money or employment. They're just friends. Friends tell the truth."
  • On being the ultimate football junkie: "I actually used to be a front for the largest national sports-betting syndicate in America. . . . We were clearing like $750,000 in four weeks of college football. It was pretty fun. Then they caught on."
  • On relating to Steve Jobs: "Jobs was an extraordinary guy, but a very ordinary guy in many ways. I remember growing up and looking at the world and going, 'OK, how do I live in this?' instead of 'How do I create it? How do I build it? How do I make something?' And the empowerment of these ideas, I think they make an important story."

Let's Dish: What's Your City's Best Bar?

Raise a glass, because men's magazine Esquire has just called out 169 of what it's dubbing "the best bars in America."

Raise a glass, because men's magazine Esquire has just called out 169 of what it's dubbing "the best bars in America." On the list: San Francisco's historic Beatnik spot, Vesuvio; the menu-free Boston mainstay, Drink; and celebrity hot spot The Polo Lounge in Beverly Hills.

With so many lists being published these days, it's hard to get massively excited about any sort of ranking, although I am always looking for another good watering hole. So I'd like to know: what's the best bar you've ever been to?

Esquire's December Issue Will Feature Augmented Reality

The December issue of

The December issue of Esquire magazine has a little geeky extra built right in. It features augmented reality technology on its cover and several inside pages, meaning that when you hold those pages up to a webcam, they'll "come alive" in 3D, with flying text and images.

Esquire teases the feature on their cover, calling it a "Living, breathing, moving, talking magazine." It's not the magazine's first geeky cover; for their 75th anniversary issue, they featured a blinking cover using e-ink. While the augmented reality concept isn't new, it's a first for magazines, and I think it's a pretty cool update to a traditional print medium. The augmented reality issue will be available at newsstands on Nov. 9.
