Ashton Kutcher channeled Old Hollywood for the cover of Esquire's March issue wearing a dapper gray suit and smoking a cigarette among city skyscrapers. In the magazine, which hits newsstands Feb. 19, the actor opened up about portraying Steve Jobs in the biopic jOBS, his professional sports-betting past, and his true friends. He didn't give anything away about girlfriend Mila Kunis in the interview, though he did attend the premiere of her film Oz the Great and Powerful last night in LA. - On good friends and film failures: "I know exactly what films I've done that f*cking suck donkey. I know it because I have friends that don't hold back. They don't depend on me for money or employment. They're just friends. Friends tell the truth."
- On being the ultimate football junkie: "I actually used to be a front for the largest national sports-betting syndicate in America. . . . We were clearing like $750,000 in four weeks of college football. It was pretty fun. Then they caught on."
- On relating to Steve Jobs: "Jobs was an extraordinary guy, but a very ordinary guy in many ways. I remember growing up and looking at the world and going, 'OK, how do I live in this?' instead of 'How do I create it? How do I build it? How do I make something?' And the empowerment of these ideas, I think they make an important story."
