Does Technology Make You More Social?

Between Facebook, Twitter, email, texting, and every other form of online communication and networking, it seems like we're in constant contact with our friends at all times. But does the lack of face-to-face contact make us less social?

My initial reaction is to agree, but according to a new study, technology actually reduces social isolation. The study found that adults who regularly use digital technologies have larger social circles and are more likely to visit parks and cafes or volunteer for local organizations. Do you agree with the results of the study?

I feel like because of Facebook, Twitter, etc. when I am together with people, we know what is going on in each other's life, so we have things to talk about right off the bat and don't spend as much time "just catching up." It helps it feel like we have never really been apart.

I have moved my whole life, so having these sites makes it easy to connect with old friends.

I don't do the Facebook, Twitter, and the texting thing. But I have plenty of friends who love it. I think some people do TOO much of this. There's no need to be on EVERYTHING.

it def.made me more social some times some sme one tweet an event or say they at this great place and it makes me tell my friends so we can do the same. thats how i found the wonder pets studio in ny for my son..

for me it could be seen as making me more social because i moved away from my friends and it helps me keep contact and helps us schedule meet ups and times to see each other :)
