Do You Program Nicknames Into Your Cell Phone?

When Sim Card Spy herself Kim Kardashian snooped in her sister's boyfriend's phone, I giggled when they discovered Scott's address book entry of "Kyra Model" — no, not because I'm a mean girl, but because it reminded me of this classic clip from The Hills, where Lauren goes through Brody's iPhone and finds that he's programmed in girls by (less-than-flattering) nicknames. Which of course gets me thinking — I do this too! No, I don't call people "Sleazy Susan" to get back at them, but I do program in names with nicknames as clues as to who they are, i.e., "Jenny Carpool," etc. And I know we've all done this single, after meeting someone out, like "Green Shirt Guy." Fess up: Have you ever done this?!

haha dingleberry is a good one sarasonne! i usually have funny or perverted nicknames for everyone so i should definitely do that ICE thing others mentioned

A couple of years ago, when I was in College, me and my friend changed all our phone book entries to random things. Mine were all random words, his were songs that reminded him of that person. Made it difficult for people to snoop^_^ Now mine are sll saved firstname lastname but set to display peoples nicknames. I can search all 3 terms then<3

bluesarahlou - a cop came and did a presentation at my office about the ICE thing, very important - everyone should do it! I put everyone in by just their first name when possible. Or I have things listed like: school - westend elem. or Dr. Jones - OBGYN.

TidalWave...there's a global campaign I've heard of called I.C.E. (In Case of Emergency)...where you put in all your emergency contact numbers (I have my parents, boyfriend, brother) under the contact name ICE. I still have all of their information separately, but it's nice to have everything under one contact name just in case. I also do the Work-So and So thing....makes sense if I know 5 different guys named Brian, but one of them is my boss :) I list my doctors by what they do (eye doc, dentist, etc) instead of the name. AND I have nicknames...but only for my besties :D

My old supervisor was such a jerk, and his last name was Dingle. So his name in my phone was DINGLEBERRY. Does that count?

I nicknamed one person... this girl, whom I never called. I had found (naked) picture messages from her on my ex's phone.. I thought about it and didn't bother after that... I figured if I had found the messages, it wasn't worth the effort or the bf...

oh and i have "eye doctor", "dentist", "sushi", "mexican", "hair" for all my local stuff - i don't bother putting names of the people or places, i know what it is to.

i have some, esp. if there are multiples of a name (i have a million friends named sarah lol.) some are funny but most of them are just where i know the person from (ie GV for my work at home, LOG for my work up at school, etc.)

I do this! Firstly, I do it for safety reasons. So if I am in an accident, someone can grab my phone and just call "mom", "dad" or "jenny roomie". then I have all my coworkers as "work - bob", etc. so i just have to go to the w's and can sort through them - but that is because i am lazy. also, I use craig's list a lot to sell/buy things, so i'll put someone's number in my phone as "jason tickets" or "lisa bookshelf" so that way I know their name and what they are buying/selling! Then I just remove their number once the transaction has been made.

I used to have a boyfriend with the initials PY ... and I gave him the nickname magnum PY - like the Tom seleck show- for obvious reasons. Then I got a new phone and had the sales guy put my numbers in the phone. While I was driving home I got a phone call from the sales guy saying that he was not sure if he had transfered all my numbers over ... but first he had to ask if he had the right set of numbers. So he asked me if I had anyone by the name Magnum PY in my phone. I think he was being a perv, cuz I had all my numbers...

I do have funny names in my phone - I never thought about it before. Mostly for my sister and best friends though. No "green shirt guys" here :)

I use to do full names as well, but then I had a hard time calling ppl I just knew with nicknames. Sometimes if I don't know a person that well, I add clues to where I met them so I know who is calling.

i used to program everyone in as first and last name, everyone. and it just made sense to me, but it seemed no one else did this. when my friend's boyfriend called it said "loverboy" and mine just said m boyfriend's name. i changed it over the summer when i got a new phone to just first names or nicknames (like if they went by their last name or something) but none of them are like "stupid sarah" or something, it's still all just first names.
