Although the Nintendo DSi XL has yet to hit shelves here in the US (its release date is coming up this Sunday, March 28), there's already talk of a new generation of handheld consoles that will include 3D technology. Temporarily called the 3DS, the new portable is said to be making its formal debut during this year's E3 conference in LA and will be released sometime next March, according to an internal Nintendo of Japan document.
The 3DS will be backwards-compatible with all the previous DS games, so you can still get your game on without having to buy new editions of your favorite titles. There's already a downloadable game out now in Japan that shows some innovative 3D tracking, which you can see without those expensive 3D glasses you'll need for home 3DTV units.
