It's hip to be green these days β not only to save the environment, but to save a few bucks while you're at it. Late last week, the Department of Energy made $535 million dollars available to a solar startup in order to stimulate the green tech industry, which will eventually mean more solar options for consumers.
Although investing in solar products can mean an investment in the short term, they can save big bucks for the long haul. Just consider how much you'll save on gas with an electric car β the same principal applies to solar energy as well.
My favorite solar gadget has to be the Solio charger ($80), which charges my gadgets on the go without using any electricity. It's totally handy and packs away easily in my bag. Hey, even the President has one! Have you gone solar yet?
Just Cavalli
No. I haven't gone solar and the reason is because the lack of available stores. Where I live there's no such things like this nice charger. I wish I could just go to the store and get as easy as I go there and get alkaline batteries.
Hope this changes soon.
We need to go green inmediately.
1I have solar powered patio lights.. that's about it for now..
2Nope, too pricey for everything.
3No solar for me. It isn't readily available.
4I have 33 panels on my roof. Our electricity bill during the summer is less than $6 which is all tax. Our last bill was $30. Prior to solar our bill was over $300 a month. My next car will be a plug in electric hybrid of some sort as I can sustain it. At some point I would like to incorporate some home windmills so we can go off the grid to sustain ourselves or feed back onto the grid and get credit for it.
5I want to but is stil a little out of my price range.
