Google Streamlining
This week Google announced a simplified privacy policy that spans across all Google products. Beyond your rights and terms of service, the biggest change is that the policy allows Google to store data and habits from all the Google sites you use. For many users, this effort to streamline comes across as too close for comfort. The overview video explaining the changes has received over 50 percent dislikes to likes and a ton of negative comments:
- "Google, . . . we stood beside you on the frontlines against SOPA and PIPA to fight against injustice, and now you turn around and stab us in the back with this. Shame . . . shame." — 5680009
- "So basically Google will know what we search, what videos we watch, where we are, the contents of our emails, and the dates of our meetings . . ." — TeenWhisper
- "Hey, you there at Google . . . Don't you understand what we, the users, want? We want privacy and anonymity, not a big network that thinks for us." — ThefamousZozo
