Though he's had an amazing film and TV career and an incredible run on Dexter as Professor James Gellar, geeks everywhere will know Edward James Olmos best as their beloved Commander William Adama from Battlestar Galactica. The Commander always gave insightful advice, even if he didn't always make the best decisions in the eyes of the fleet.
