Carrie Prefers Payphones over Cellphones in the Sex and the City Movie

You'd think with a fab worthy outfit and a Prada ombre clutch that miss Carrie Bradshaw would be showing off a sleek iPhone in the Sex and the City movie. After six seasons and now with the movie, Carrie is surprisingly still sans a cell phone.

I certainly agree that trying to track down a payphone in one of the largest urban cities in the world is much more dramatic than conveniently returning Mr. Big's calls on a BlackBerry. . . But still!

Let's just hope that Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte step it up and give us some modern technology to get excited about.

Carrie did have a cell phone in the movie but after big left her at the alter and she went on the honeymoon with the girls she threw it into the ocean because she listened to all big's messages. Geeze guys for big fans you'd think you could remember what happened in the movie!!

I don't even watch this show (movie), but - yech! The few pay phones I've seen in the last few years are just gross looking! I'd never just put my face up against one. (I know - it's movie magic here though!)

Payphones are disgustingly dirty and unless someone held a gun to my head I would never touch one. I hope she used some sanitizing spray our a Lysol wipe before putting her mouth near it. Gagging just thinking about talking on a public pay phone!

She had cell phone in season 2 also. The scene was: Big was cooking veil for them and Miranda called her asking where she was because they had dinner plans. The episode was "The Man, The Myth, The Viagra". I always wondered where that phone disappeared.

Sorry Geekette's but payphones are cool; esp. phone booths. They are charming. I do like technology but it can be too much and tends to make people self-centered and materialistic, in general.

Right! I totally forgot about that last scene where you see Big's name on her phone.. Maybe she'll go back and forth in the movie between cell phone and pay phone.

see here's my question. she had a cell when miranda went into labor - but that was from miranda. then she had the pink one all through season six cause she talked to 'the russian' while he was over seas - and then in the LAST scene of the finale - you see big's name on her cell...so where did the pink 'blinged' cell go?

I never understood how these women could be so fashion forward and modern in every sense of the word yet not have cell phones! I remember Samantha having one and maybe Miranda too and of course in the final episode Carrie has one. Weird.

i know carrie did have a cell phone before- remember when big called her and it said 'john'? she also had a pink on shopping one day. cant wait to see the movie!

i was just about to ask do payphones even work? they should work for emergency though, but i'm so use to cell phones that i would probably just ask someone on the street to use their cell phones.
