Fair enough. I keep mine in a cute bag with a smartcover, and hope for the best - but that's just me. I do iOS development - so it spends a lot more time at the office with XCode builds than out and about. I prefer a Macbook Air, personally. Ultimately, a case is a huge personal thing. There's no right answer.

I do have an iPad 2 spacekatgal, and I will not walk around with it without a case on. It's not only slippery, but I'd be afraid of scratching it up. These cases are expensive, but of course, I'm dressing a superstar's iPad, not the everyday woman. I'm sure not everyone has $300 to spend on a case, or $200 for glass repairs; I sure don't!

I don't know, Geeksugar. Do you have an iPad2? I think the biggest improvement is the lack of a bulky case. What's the point of spending $320 to protect a $600-800 gadget? Even if you smash the glass it's only $200 to fix. I go with just a smartcover.
