British Police Caution Man After 'Wi-Fi' Theft

The BBC is reporting that a man was arrested and cautioned after neighbors reported seeing a man inside a car using a laptop while parked outside a house. Here's more:

The man arrested at the weekend was cautioned for dishonestly obtaining electronic communications services with intent to avoid payment. He attracted attention from neighbours in the early morning, as he had put up cardboard around his car windows but the light from his computer could be seen through the back window.

I'm not sure what world the couple that reported the "wifi theft" have been living in, but if I had a dollar for every time I've been able to randomly pick up a wireless signal I'd have a pretty sweet iPhone fund right now. Of course, I do advocate responsible and safe wireless usage and I certainly recommend you make sure you've set up a firewall for your home's connection. Check out my guide to going wireless without the worries.
