The apocalypse is totally depressing, as is The Road, which is based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name. This film is bleak, gray, cold, and unforgiving, and while you'll probably find yourself sobbing throughout the entire thing, there's an odd sense of hope coming from Viggo Mortensen's character. It's well worth a watch, but just be prepared for graphic scenes. Better yet, read the book first so you know what you're getting yourself into.
