Oh, those '80s! It was a time when stonewashed jeans were hot and cell phones were a luxury for only the richest people a la the snobby elite of Molly Ringwald movies.

Behold, the key to upgrading your class status! This vintage ad for an Imitation Cell Phone is by all accounts legitimate, and while funny, it's kind of true.

Tell me you weren't jealous of your friends who got cell phones before you! Maybe not buy-a-fake-cell-phone jealous, but jealous.

I wasn't jealous then and now I only own a cell phone because my sister gave me one. I couldn't hate this thing more than I do.

it's really funny to see the evolution of who has phones and what those phones look like. think back to saved by the bell...:) when zach had a phone - regardless of how big the phone was i think that we all wanted one, yet few were lucky enough to have one.
