Less than a month after the announcement of new Shuffles and Nanos with cameras, it's rumored that Apple could be gearing up to unveil its most cost-effective lineup of Macs including iMacs and MacBooks.
According to the Apple Insider, the new models could arrive just in time for the holiday season and attract customers who are looking for an affordable laptop. The new MacBook is said to be thinner than the current 13-inch model, but no other details have been leaked.
Does this news make you excited? Would you pick up a cheaper MacBook?

My aunt is looking for a new macbook so probably this will be the one for her. i hope this rumour will be truth
1Gosh, GS - I read all about this. I'd pick the white mac over no mac at all, but the 13 inch unibody MacPro is such a better deal. It's a much better quality machine, will sell for more later, and has so much more power.
There are also rumors that the iMac line will be refreshed. Awesome!
2It would be nice if Apple could keep up with the economy and lower the prices on all their units. They seemed to have kind of gotten the point with the iPhones and the iPods but the laptops just never seem to go down.
3Usually I replace my MacBook every three years (about the time the extended warranty runs out), but this year I'm just going to suck it up and hope nothing major goes wrong with my baby.
Noooo! Every time my boyfriend gets a new gadget, they go down in price right afterward. Last summer, he bought a PS3, now it's about $100 cheaper than he paid, he got an iPod Touch after his one broke, within a year, they were about $150 cheaper. He JUST got a new macbook after his laptop (which almost corrupted a 100 page paper he'd been working on for an entire term) finally kicked the bucket, now they are going down in price too!? Noooo! Keep them expensive for a little bit please!
4I'm not so interested in the regular Macbooks dropping in price; I'd like to see a price drop in the pros. I'd really, really like to get a 13" or 15" Macbook Pro next summer (when my extended warranty is up on my Macbook) or in 2011. So I'm really, really hoping to see a price drop by then.
*crosses fingers*
5They DID just drastically drop the prices on their MacBook Pros. By like hundreds of dollars - I think the last round of MBPS were $400 cheaper than the previous iterations. That just happened in June.
You have to pay for quality. It's just the way it is.
6I already have one of the new aluminum models, but I think it is a good idea. A lot of people, especially students need computers that run well (i.e. a mac) but can't afford them. I think it will be good for Apple's marketing
7I would LOVE to have one of the MBPs . . . I'm basically right now just trying to wait as long as possible to buy one. I've taken on some extra duties at school (coach and yearbook co-advisor) that a new laptop would make easier to do, but I won't get paid for either of them until the end of the school year. If the prices drop, I'll be able to order a new laptop before yearbook and coaching really kicks in, which would be LOVELY
8I'm probably going to get a new laptop early next year and thought about a MBP. I need to double boot to windows for work and the only issue I have is that 8GB of RAM costs $1,000 right now. A bit crazy. I do hope that they drop the prices on the white models to at least make them an option for folks on a budget.
9I have a white macbook that I got last year. I'm just going to upgrade the RAM and hard drive soon and use it until the warranty is up in 2011.
10i have a white macbook but my dad's computer has been seriously acting funny so i hope the rumor mill is true so he can get a mac too
