Amazon Partners With Facebook

Amazon + Facebook = No Worrisome Gift-Giving Ever Again

Amazon and Facebook are testing out a new partnership that will allow you to link your Facebook and Amazon accounts, allowing you to receive Amazon product recommendations based on your Facebook activity. And depending on your friends' privacy settings, you may be able to see recommended products for them, too — hello, gift-giving gold mine! And, to make it even easier, Amazon will remind you of upcoming friends' birthdays upon sign-in with links to relevant gift ideas.

Privacy-wise, Amazon says it will not be sharing any account information — including purchases made — with Facebook.

The only information Amazon will have access to is information that you've made public on Facebook; it will not have access to private or restricted items from you or your friends. An initial review of the service called it "fascinating and useful," pointing out fun elements of the service: checking out the most-liked music albums among your social circle, for example.

Users are able to change the settings or disable the connection at any time. To test out the service, log into your Amazon account and look for the "Tap Into Your Facebook Network" link on the right side of the page.
