I can't tell you how many times I've walked by the same pothole on my way to work, and thought about what kind of damage that thing could be doing to people's cars. Although I don't drive to work, I can help get this particular pothole (and others like it) fixed with the help of my iPhone.
A new free iPhone app called SeeClickFix helps city officials discover problems with roads, signs, buses, and the like via messages sent by residents. The app allows you to snap a photo of the problem, write a message, then send the report along with your coordinates to a team of city officials who can then start solving the issues that have the biggest impact on our daily lives. See an intersection that could use a stop sign? Send it along! Is there a streetlight in your 'hood that isn't working? Report it! The best part about this app is that it works with cities across the country. Go to the SeeClickFix website to check if your city is on the list.
I have to admit that my favorite shopping days of the year come after the Christmas holiday. That's when I can redeem my gift cards and get exactly what I want, usually at a huge discount. This year, I found a ton of stuff I loved at my favorite store (Target, naturally), so I thought I'd pass the savings message on to you as well with a quick rundown of some of the items Target is offering up with radically reduced prices. Although you may find some interesting eye candy throughout the stores themselves, you can grab all these deals online if you choose. Check them out below!
- Keep it together: I found this Four Slot Charging Station ($15) half off its original price. You can bet I took this baby home!
- Cover it up: The Xgear iPhone Case ($13) comes in a crisp white, and packed with a pair of mirrored film for your iPhone's face.
- Start 'em early: The Chester Creek Learning Board ($15) teaches your kids how to use the keyboard. A necessary skill for the 21st century.

While I've been sporting an iPhone for nearly two years, I'm willing to bet your chosen gadget of the decade could be found wrapped under many Christmas trees this year! Is there anything this phone can't do? Every time I turn around it seems I'm bringing you another iPhone tip, but I can't get enough of the awesome shortcuts and general life improvement it offers. Today's tip: double-clicking the "home" button to access the iPhone function of your choice.
When your phone is locked, the double-click controls your phone's iPod. I use this new tip to control my iPhone when it's unlocked. Under the "settings" menu, select "general" and then "home." The screen displayed allows you to control which function displays when you double-click the home button: home, search, favorites, camera, or iPod. I like to keep my phone set to bring up the camera when I double-click. That way, I'm sure to never miss a shot!

Fresh off of the holiday, Amazon has announced that the Kindle is its most-gifted item in company history. While the company hasn't released exact figures for the holiday shopping season (which they define as Nov. 15 through Dec. 19), the Kindle outsold popular toys, video games, DVDs, and books. Also of note: on Christmas day, more Kindle books were purchased than actual, physical books, presumably to fill up those brand new Kindle readers!
While the Kindle didn't win the award for your favorite eReader of 2009 — that honor went to Barnes and Noble's Nook — there's no denying the device's popularity, especially as a Christmas gift! I wonder though, if the Nook would have been as popular if it were available to fulfill holiday sales instead of having a long waiting list.
Other geeky holiday bestsellers include the Wii Fit Plus, Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Call of Duty 2: Modern Warfare.
