I'm what's considered a Craigslist junkie. I am constantly trolling the site, checking out the furniture section for hot vintage finds, reading Missed Connections for entertainment value, and cruising the housing listings for fantasy home relocation day-dreaming.

My love for Craigslist almost rivals my love for eBay, on which I've been an active member and shopper for years now. I am always encouraging people to use either when they are on the hunt for an item they just can't find in stores, but something many people shy away from on Craigslist or eBay is electronics. But for as many fraud experiences, it seems like there are twice as many happy success stories. Have you ever bought a gadget on Craigslist or eBay, and if so, what?

No.
1Nope, but I've been trolling craigslist lately for a lawnmower.
2Not either of those two, but I love buying gadgets on Woot.com!
3I've bought lots of things on eBay and have had mostly good experiences. Never bought through craigslist, though.
4No, but I did SELL my old laptop through craigslist. I never buy anything through craigslist, but always have tons of luck selling on there.
5I bought my tivo from ebay. It was perfect. You just have to be careful of who you do business with.
6No, but I sold my old Strawberry iMac on Craigslist, years ago.
7I haven't, but I would if I were looking for something in specific.
I love looking at all the stuff on Craigslist too... just seeing what other people are putting up there is fun!
8No but I did buy my FC Twin console (plays NES and SNES games) on Amazon used.
9geeksugar honestly i thought i was the ONLY one that read missed connections on CL!!! HAHAHAHAHA they are HILARIOUS....
lol part of me reads them...and wonder if any one has ever written one about me?!
10I haven't bought anything but I've sold my old computers on Craig's List. Worked out great. Just met the buyers at my office in case they were nut jobs or an axe murderer, and made them pay cash.
11on ebay once.... a lonnngg time ago. my dad does it all the time.
12I got my cell phone from ebay. but thats the only time ive ever purchased an electronic from either.
13I have bought and sold on eBay but never Craigslist. I have bought video game accessories but any high end electronics I usually get local in case something is wrong with it.
14I have bought stuff from ebay...never electronics. I tried to sell my laptop less than a year ago on both ebay and craigslist and I eneded up trying to get scammed. So since then I've become jaded about it all.
15Not a gadget, per se, but I bought a Polaroid 600 on eBay the other day. That's the first time.
16Not yet, but I really want to take the plungs, just for the sake of getting a better deal. Too nervous about it. I'll get used books and used DVDs, but I'm about to buy a new iPod and I just can't bring myself to do eBay or Craigs for it. I have a friend who got a fabulous deal on an iPod and eBay and it still works, was in great shape...she's thrilled.
Otherwise, I am an eBay junkie...I collect dolls and I love sellers from Hong Kong! Love them? I adore them
17Last year I bought a Tamogachi on ebay. Aside from Arrested Development set props, that's all I've ever purchased from the site.
18I bought a Wii from a woman on Craigslist. She sold it to me for retail price PLUS a game (not the Wii Sports that most people try to pass off as five games). Turns out she bought it for her two sons who already had a PS2, XBox, etc. and played sports so they barely had time to even touch the Wii. Bonus for me!
I love Craigslist. I've bought and sold quite a few things off people there, and luckily nothing bad has happened. Knock on wood!
19I haven't bought a gadget but I did find an apartment to rent and a job from craigslist. Both were legit and I was happy.
20i've bought a scanner, many wii games and some other small gadgets on craigslist, plus sold some wii games and my imac on there as well. i have also bought some electronics on ebay. i prefer craigslist as i'd rather not pay for postage when there are people in my own city that have what i want: better for the environment this way, too. i tried to use craigslist when i was visiting my mom for christmas but there's not much on the Calgary site. too bad.
21I bought my iPhone, Nokia N95, and sold my Ipod Nano 3rd edition all on Craigslist. I'm very careful and have not had any problems doing business on it.
22I bought all kinds of things. MP3/CD player, overhead projector, video projection panel. (Mind you, this was back in the day when these things weren't obsolete yet.)
I did get kind of scammed once, but it was a relatively small loss. I brought one of those "DIY big screen" kits. $9.99 for the kit. $21 for the shipping and handling. It turns out to be two pieces of plastic fresnel lenses (these things costs $2 each) and instructions already available on the internet.
Haven't bought anything too high-end like brand new laptops and cameras. Besides how many scams there are with high-end items, those are not the sort of things I'd want to go through the post office, anyway.
Ever since I moved to Hong Kong I just go to Apliu Street for all my electronic needs. Who wants to wait for postage when you can just go and get something RIGHT NOW?
This city is all about the instant gratification.
23What Kazagirl said! Just gotta be careful with your sellers/buyers and read over descriptions
I however buy/sell random stuff there all the time but as far as gadgets go, that's where I got my lovely pink Gameboy SP for about $70
It was in its box, sealed and everything.. just like the good seller
described.
24I'm scared.
25I bought my GameCube on eBay... I sell more than I buy, though; I'll be getting rid of it soon enough.
I don't buy or meet people on Craig's List. There are too many weirdos on there. I just read it for lulz.
But on ebay, just read people's feedback, and read the auctions/sale listings carefully. Most people on ebay are pretty honest, but if you're not careful, you could miss something important.
26I absolutely adore craigslist. I've sold things on there, found a few apartments including my current, bought my last car (for a ridiculously low price) on there. Matter of fact most of my friends wouldnt exist if it werent for craigslist. I joined a band through CL(which most of my friends now a days have something to do with) and even meet some pretty cool people through the stricly platonic section and one that was looking for someone to help them in the gigs section. Some of the people ended up into dates later on too including the guy I helped out in the gigs section. CL has changed my life, lol.
27I've thought about buying a cell but I just can't get myself to go through with it.
28Yay for this post! I just had received an iPod nano and was trying to figure out what to do with my perfectly good iPod mini...I had considered selling it, but wasn't sure if it would be a success (never sold any gadgets online)...now I know that there are definitely buyers out there!
29I just used eBay for a smartphone, which was a MISTAKE... just finished settlement thru a paypal dispute that took more time and stress than I needed it to.
30actually have used ebay a lot for electronics. I sold an old laptop and then bought my new ipod touch and an hp printer.
31I'm not against it, but I've just never thought about it. Besides, when I want something, it usually just came out.
32Yes, two mac notebook computers from ebay.
33Only non-electronic items from Craigslist.
I've bought lots of gadgets on Ebay, from mini ipod speakers to computer monitors. You just have to be careful who you do business with. I never deal with anyone with a feedback lower than 98% and who doesn't accept paypal. Never bought on Craigslist, actually never thought about it. Hmmm, might have to go check it out!
34Have you tried Oodle?
35Nope, I'd be too weary of it.
36No, because when it comes to electronics and gagdgets, I'm one of those people who need to purchase the warranty and stuff.
37I've looked, but I don't think I've ever bought anything.
38YES! i bought my digital camera and my blackberry pearl on ebay!
39I'm actually trying right now to sell my Sidekick 3 on Craigslist Philadelphia and I'm not having much luck. People want to trade, but not pay. I can understand that, but the whole point is I need actual cash to buy a new phone.
40a camera from Ebay and I got it $200 cheaper with perfect delivery and genuine product. I won't say its dangerous necessarily...
41i got my pink razr on ebay.. it was cheaper than gettin it from verizon during my contract, and it was really barely used. im still on it a year later!! I've also bought my sidekick2 and dwayne wade sk3 on ebay back when i had tmobile...
