The Hidden Camera Detector from ThinkGeek appeals to the worst part of me — the paranoid, it could-happen-to-me part. I have seen way too many Dateline NBC exposing those with hidden cameras in ladies' bathrooms, workplaces, and even inside your own apartment! See, there it is!
In many ways I think this tool could be useful — at the very least, it would put you at ease. Not to mention, it's only $25 and tiny enough to fit in your palm, so no one is aware of your craziness until the thing starts working and emits an audible alarm, telling you that yes, you are on candid camera.
What do you think? Paranoia indulger or safety guarantee?

how very pointless! i mean unless you're an international person of mystery of course!
1It's so inexpensive! The paranoid part of me is interested, too, except for that alarm for everyone to hear...
2I'm looking for the hidden camera in my home now.
3this is really handy for travellers...staying frequently in hotel rooms (like myself). could just be that i'm paranoid....but probably not without good reason.
4I like the idea.
5honestly, i get SO paranoid about hidden cameras in bathrooms or change rooms...
It's a good idea, I don't know if I'd actually use it. I do get paranoid sometimes, but I don't know if hidden cameras are a big issue.
6Ok so the thing goes off? Then what? Start running around like a lunatic rambling on about a hidden camera? "I'm not staying in this room, there is a hidden camera" "Did you see a camera? Please show us the camera" -"I can't. I just know it's there. My USB memory key said so."
7I could see it being good for women who live/travel alone.
8I love the idea of it, but I'd like to know more about how it works. It seems it would create a faux confidence because it's unlikely that it would detect ALL types of hidden cameras, but I don't know how it works. I used to use the 'finger trick' to see if the mirror was double-sided, but I found out years later that it didn't even work and was just a myth, ha.
9i want it...
10ive seen too many creepy
dateline episodes that it
has made me paranoid.
I agree that I almost want this for hotel rooms, but wouldn't it go off everytime you went into a store with security cameras and such?
11What's not to love about this, I think it's a great idea.
12i think that it is a great idea, especially since it is small.
13It's a good idea.
14What about places where there are cameras in dressing rooms to prevent theft, and it's blatantly stated? How does this detect HIDDEN cameras versus normal store security cameras? I'm just thinking about the places where you go that state that "Dressing room is monitored by same-sex personnel" or however they phrase it...
15Big Brother alerts could be very useful. Thanks for the tip! Gonna buy one...

17just a way for the company to make money
18I love it! But I highly doubt its usefulness.
19I thought it was a good idea until I noticed that it worked only by detecting wireless signals. While it probably will work rather well for a wireless camera it wont work at all with a wired or battery powered camera with film. Thats kinda pointless.
