This geek tip is pretty simple but a total party-saver at times. If you have a series two and above TiVo, and your TiVo is hooked up to your network, you can access your iTunes (or any other mp3) library from your TiVo menu.
First, download TiVo Desktop for free. Then just go to your TiVo homescreen and select "Music & Photos." Scroll down this list, and you will find your computer by whatever name you've given it (i.e., mine comes up as simply "G5"). Choose this and you'll be directed to your music library (note: only mp3 files are accessible). Then select the songs you want to hear and play! If you've already created a playlist on your computer, you can have a party mix ready to go, straight from your TV!

I don't have TiVo, but that's pretty darn cool.
1i'm having my husband try it right now!
2i hope they will add that kinda feature to my cox cable dvr!
3Note that there are ways to play other than MP3 files - on Windows there is a TiVo Desktop Plug-in which will auto-transcode other formats (such as AAC, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, etc) into MP3 for the TiVo. I keep all my iTunes music in AAC, so I use it to play music on my TiVo: http://www.gizmolovers.com/2006/04/16/play-just-about-any-audio-format-o...
You can do the same thing on a Mac using LAME: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050217074716445
There are also third party HME apps that can add additional features such as Audio Faucet, Galleon, J. River, etc.
