With The Sims 2: Pets all you have to do is have your Sim pick up the phone and dial the Pet Adoption Service, where they’ll have plenty of cats and dogs to choose from. You can also create your own unique cats and dogs through the Create a Family screen, where size, color, body type, markings, and personalities can be tweaked to your heart’s content. Choose from dozens of pedigreed breeds, and make your new fuzzy friend look like your real life dog.

Your Sim might find a stray cat or dog wandering around the house and develop a relationship with it, which will convince the animal to stay around for a while. Eventually, it will become a member of the household. This option is recommended for cheap Sims.
If you have the Open For Business expansion pack, you can buy cats and dogs at a downtown pet store. Pets also allows players with Open For Business to open their own pet shops.
Get the The Sims 2: Pets, from the Apple Store for $34.95. Works for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later, but there's a PC Sims 2: Pets version too.

3i like the sims 2 but for some reason it doesn't wanna download on to my new computer.. it was fine on the old one.. now it says i have to have some program downloaded, and it says that it comes with free with the sims CDs but wen i finished with everything it says that it needs that program (which i supposedly downloaded free with the sims 2) to run the game :/

I have the Sims 2 Pets and I have to say that it gets a little too overwhelming. You can't control the animals like you were able to in Unleashed, your Sims have to train them to go pee outside and not destroy the furniture but when you have a baby in the house and some other Sims the pets kinda cause their own chaos if you don't keep an eye on them closely. But I did have fun creating my pets and managed to make a tortoise shell cat with no ears and half a tail (I had a cat Zoey that looked more like an otter than a cat). But if you like doing custom clothes for your Sims, there is a bug in Pets that messes with Body Shop so beware... Pets is fun, but not absolutely necessary to enjoy the whole Sims Experience. Im waiting on the Sims Seasons to come out this year, it is supposed to have your Sims experience different seasons. Hoooray!

Seasons sounds great. I hadn't heard about it. There goes a month.
I saw the advertisement for the Sims Season EP inside the box for Sims Pets. But those were my thoughts exactly, "there goes a month". I remember when I first started playing Sims non-stop in college. I woke up from a nap one day in a panic because I was used to Sim Time (1 hr = 60 seconds) and I thought that I had missed my exam. That's when I realized I had a problem. I now Sim in Moderation, lol

10At Night, I Go to bed and drag out my laptop, and go sim crazy, Only Last night I staayed Up all night Playing sims, Although I only got Sims a Month Ago, I have been Interested In It for ages, I had to Nag My Mum to Buy me Sims Double delux, My First Sims PC game, And Then I Get It and Sims 3 comes out!
Ahh well, I have a mission to download as many Sims Expansians as Possible, And I Vow to Be a Sim Freack From Death Do Thy Part!! LOL
