You'd think that smoking Christmas lights would be something only Clark Griswold would have to deal with in Christmas Vacation. Guess again! I was totally shocked when TeamSugar told me that her new Micro Lights short-circuited and melted the outlet plug. Yikes! TeamSugar noticed that the lights went out around 5pm, and she could smell melting plastic. When she came back at 11pm, the entire plug had exploded. It's better to be safe than sorry this holiday season. Keep a close eye on your new lights and if worse comes to worse, trade in your real tree for a fiber optic USB Christmas tree, you know, just to be on the safe side!

4Yea, that happened one Christmas @ my house... we were coming back from a dinner do and the Fire Trucks were following us, so we pulled over to let them pass and followed them home! Lucky it was only the fake tree that burnt and none of the presents (they were still at "Santa's").
5I turn of all Christmas lights when I leave the house, and sometimes if I leave the room. My family thinks I'm paranoid/crazy. Better safe than sorry, I say.
6Oooo that's scary. That's why you should ALWASY turn the tree off when you leave...
7Yeah, I am glad they were not on my tree. When we left at 5pm, I thought my boyfriend had turned the lights off and, of course, he thought I unplugged them but we were both mistaken. The old lights are on my tree and so far so good!

11Target, of course, took the lights back! And I am pleased to report they said they were going to pull them from the shelves of my local Target and perhaps others since it is a very hazardous defect!
