Well the moment Vista was announcing that it was gonna launch I switched to Mac straight away. Call me cynical but I hate it already and I haven't even tried it.

After a couple of service packs it will be stable

I like Windows and had to say that everything has their problems. I haven't personally tried Vista, but am close to sources who have. You do need to pump up your system to run it and people need to understand that.

I think that Mac people tend to be haters and feel so righteous about Macs. That has actually drawn me away from buying a mac. They are two different systems and can't be compared.

I actually like Vista, and I haven't had problems with it. I can't say that Mac users are haters because I also have a Mac, and have Leopard and it's running fine too.

I haven't tried Vista yet. I have the free upgrade but I decide to postpone installing it until I finished my thesis.

I like both OS. Mac looks cool and I'd like to have one, but I think all the Apple stuff is over priced (although I gave in and bought an iPod). Windows might be not as cool, but I can play games on top of it, and it's easier to develop software on it.

yes, it's really annoying! Nothing's compatible with it...I can't see pictures, I can't get my remote connection to the office, I can't even get to my Yahoo mail without a hassle! I'm seriously thinking of reinstalling XP.

I've had Vista for a while, and I haven't had problems with it. I actually like a lot of it. The only thing I wish they hadn't changed was the camera wizard and the way you could select pictures to upload. But, I have two different programs to use instead if I want. And, maybe it's just because it's different. How many times have I complained about changes on the Sugar sites, and then here I am now not even able to remember how I used to do things.

Again, I'm happy with Vista.

i'm a happy Mac owner! But i've heard that vista isn't perfect but it still looks pretty cool and i'd like to upgrade my XP to Vista soon.

I've tried it, I had to set up my boss' son's laptop. It didn't impress me. I'm a Mac lover but have always been able to easily use windows. I think XP was better.

I am a verrry new convert to Vista, but I have not had any problems yet. My issues are coming from my switch from Mac to PC.

Vista is just kinda okay. I don't bother running it in a virtual machine because I don't really see any real point to doing so, though I have spent time with it. (I do keep a virtual machine running XP though, for that occasional app that I want to use that doesn't run on a Mac.) I think that's the main problem with Vista, you need a faster machine, but you don't really get anything substantial out of the deal. On the other hand, Leopard rocks my socks.

I have a normal desktop and a MacBook, so I like both of them. I use my desktop to play graphic-intensive online games and upload photos/use photoshop. I use my MacBook Pro to browse the web (although I've been mostly doing it at my desk lately). I don't really do anything that would cause either not to work, I guess, because I've never had a problem.

I'm a Mac user and I don't really understand where this whole Mac vs PC thing came from. My husband is a computer scientist and US Army networking officer and he's very weird about the Mac/PC thing. They're both computers that run and do things well in different ways. Who cares what system you're running?

I'm glad to see I'm not the only other person w/ Vista that isn't having problems. I got my new Dell laptop w/ Vista and have had zero problems. My Computer Scientist nerdy husband forbade me from purchasing the laptop w/ Vista (I listen well ). Even he is starting to warm to it.

I've never had any trouble with Vista. But I also love Apple, for photoshop stuff.

Vista is godawful. It takes more processing time than most of my development environments, and for that reason, I haven't bothered upgrading my Windows XP machine.

It might be good for people who are using Windows for the first time, but for geeks, it's truly heinous. There's no real difference in functionality, most of it is aesthetic, and can be achieved with your XP OS anyway, just by googling for an XP Skin that looks like Vista.

Unfortunately for me, it's a necessary evil. My office is a Windows-only shop. I also need Windows in order to play all my games.

My primary computer is my iBook and we didn't update our home PCs with Vista, so I haven't tried it.

I went with Linux when Vista came out. I haven't regretted the change.

I can't speak for people who upgraded to Vista from XP computers, but I have an HP Desktop built for Vista Premium and I personally love it.

Plus, I have to root for Windows in the ad with John Hodgeman, I always love his segments on the Daily Show xD

I was just asking about this the other day. Most new software has a few bugs here and there, I wasn't really sure what all the flak over Vista was. So If I am understanding some of the above posts the issues are that it is buggy for power users and has higher system requirements? I think I was just shocked to hear about how many companies are investing tons of money to down convert their new systems to XP. Does it have anything to do with IT people having trouble maintaining or fixing the new software? Just curious.

I've been wanting a new computer and I'm not a Mac fan... but all of the new PC's come with Vista. So, I refuse to get a new computer until conditions improve.

I have found that in some less metropolitan areas (ahem Pittsburgh) the IT people aren't on top of their game. I am in no way a trained IT person, but I have found resolve to the same problems they have faced quicker and even at all. They tend to over think and not do the simple thing. Its like their little drama zone because if everything worked fine and had no problems, then they would think that their job was not necessary.

If you have a program that can't install on Vista, there is an option to run it off of a previous version of windows, just as XP does.

I use both Vista and Leopard. Every OS is a little buggy when it first ships. The first Service Pack will fix a lot of issues, just like it did in XP and earlier. Even Leopard has a 10.5.1 update already.

Vista works great for me. It's fairly stable and I haven't encountered too many driver issues, which is pretty good for a home built computer.

I have XP, and I don't like change so I doubt I'll be going over to Vista. But I love those commercials! I have a crush on Mac guy too!

haha I lovethose commercials they are so funny. About vista I have not tested it yet. I use mac myself and my boyfriend uses XP so vista not so much. But I don't hear good things about it. I will be getting windows soon and I am getting XP on it. I am not going to even mess with vista because once you go mac you can never go back (i know corny hahah) and I don't want to be upset

I've had Vista since I got my new computer - about six months ago - and I haven't had any problems yet. I don't know why it's getting so much negative attention. If it does have higher system requirements, don't install it on an older computer. I don't think this should be an issue if it's coming with a new computer.

grr i hate vista!! I got sucked into wanting one of those new colorful dell laptops (damn fun advertising), and let me tell you, I am sooo mad at myself for not getting a mac! I am a student, which means Microsoft Word gets the most use out of any program on my computer- and what did windows do? THEY CHANGED EVERYTHING!! they hid things, they removed options, and made it ridiculously hard to write a paper. Also, i am so sick of the constant security, like how opening almost every single program makes the whole screen go black while i have to tell my computer that, yes, i did actually want this to happen. The Google "widgets" are a poor excuse for the mac ones, and aren't even that plentiful or helpful. And the so called "glossy" screen, which is supposed to be easier on the eyes, is actually just reflective, so i see my own face every time i look at the computer and cannot use it AT ALL in the sunlight..which is technically a problem with Dell, but same difference. I am only a junior in college, so I have to wait a while before I can buy myself another laptop, so I am stuck for the time being. unfortunately. don't buy vista!!

Which is why I do not like Vista. Windows, stop trying to be something you're not!

As a side note, rednikon are you happy with Ubuntu? I'm thinking of going dual-boot and am trying to pick a Linux distro.

While Vista may have been based on OS X it unfortunately comes with the problems of running windows- spyware and viruses. Plus I believe their emulation was not as smooth as it could have been.

I'm a Mac lover after using XP for most of my life.. So I've never felt the need to try out Vista; And I actually haven't heard much about it. Neither bad nor good.

MacGirl, that's only because Windows has the largest market share. It's the same reason why Firefox and Linux are safer as well. It may sound cynical, but it's true. Someone who wants to cause damage is going to damage as much as the population as possible. In reality, most of systems are equally insecure, although usually in different ways.

The only reason Linux would be safer if it were as popular as Windows is the open source idea. When a weakness is found, people can fix it instantly; opposed to to a service pack (Windows) or a new version (Mac).

I had actually starting typing that in my above post but left it out as I didn't want to get too far away from the vista thing. I know that someday it will not be the "safe" OS any longer as the Mac market share is growing. I think my point was if people are going to have to go through a "change" some of them are opting to move to the Mac which comes with great features out of the box instead of sticking with the windows clone of OS X. I'm not a hater, I understand that not everyone should be on a Mac.
