Have you made your Black Friday wish list yet? Nintendo will release its special edition Nintendo DS bundles on Friday and after a preview I can attest that they are an awwww-inspiring gift for the kid, teen or grown up gamer in your life.
Each of the special Nintendo DS bundles, which will be priced around $160, pairs a custom-color Nintendo DS system with one of the platform's most popular titles, so it's the perfect starter kit. The new gold edition (seen here) comes with The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, while the metallic rose Nintendo DS comes with the "Best Friends" version of Nintendogs. The DS is one of my favorite gaming devices because of its portability and game selection so I was thrilled to check out the new colors (the gold device features Zelda's signature Triforce logo on the lid — how geek chic is that?). The bundle makes gift giving easier because you don't have to buy a separate game in order for the recipient to have something to play with as soon as you give it to them.

According to Nintendo, Legend of Zelda, which comes with the gold edition bundle, has already earned high marks with female gamers but this edition of Phantom Hourglass makes the saga available for a portable console for the first time ever. Forget the hourglass. I'm totally addicted.

Actually, not true! Every Zelda game except Ocarina of Time, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Four Swords Adventures, and Majora's Mask have been released on Gameboy Color, Advanced, or, now, DS. That's nine games! This is, however the first Zelda game to be released exclusively for the DS (though other handheld-exclusive titles have been released for older systems).
10Sweet! I would soooo love that
11I think my daughter is outgrowning her DS, so sad!
