"Excuse me, did you just grope me?" "Groping is a crime," "Shall we head to the police?" These are just a few of the messages included in the Anti-Groping program by games developer Takahashi, according to ABC News. In Japan this free download ranks as number seven in a top 10 cell phone applications list, as many women are flashing these messages to warn subway gropers to back off. They can also press an anger icon which plays a warning chime with the message.
First off, I had no idea that there were alot of dirties on congested subway trains in Japan. Secondly, since when does a message on your cell phone scare off perverts?! I'd love to try it out here and see how effective it is!

Why push a button on a cell phone? Just speak up for yourself.
1Aren't there dirties on subways everywhere? Or have I just had bad luck?
This seems like a silly idea with the cellphone though. I agree with "i heart monster" - speak up for yourself! Embarrass them!
2I doubt that a phone message is going to scare this type of person off. Obviously they aren't detered by much, so what is this going to do?
3Don't have subways where I live...
The only time I've been a victim of this is at concerts, and usually a nice punch in the crotch gets the point across.
4Eww happened to me once in Europe...damn gropers!
5yuck !!!! I'd be walking instead of riding a bus with those creeps I would find it hard to even operate a phone at that point!!1
6Which is worse? Groped or standing under sweating armpit?
7i've watched the amazing race enough times to know that the crowded subways are just prime targets for gropers. while there's plenty of room of improvement in america - i do appreciate the space on public transportation.
and i don't really think these text messages will stop the gropers.
8I don't think it's ment to stop gropers, just serve as a reminder for people on what they can say if they are in the situation.
9that's just silly. use your voice! scream! yell! duh!
10Happened to me in Boston - I was so shocked I couldn't speak. Maybe if I'd had this in my cell, I'd have used it, but probably wouldn't have been able to do that, either.
Anyone else amused by the huge pit stain the dude in the grey t-shirt is sporting?
11I bought my husband this shirt:

It reads "Beware of Perverts" in Japanese. I agree with some of the others.. why on the cell phone? Ladies, your elbows are the strongest part of your body, start throw them around
12I might have some insight on this. In Japan, this happens a lot more often than in the US. Also, in Japan it is considered rude and dishonerable if the woman says anything to discourage the "groping". Weird, I know. So putting the message on a cell phone and showing it to the groper is a respectable way for Japanese women to discourage what is happening. If I ever visit Japan and have this happen, please believe I'll be saying something about it!
13Haha this is too silly!
14that picture is so me! i mean, i am that short or shorter so get stuck in people's armpits a lot. sorry, this has nothing to do with what you said.
15I say, just speak up yourself.
16I guess that whole concept is lost on me. Since when does a nice knee to the groin not prove your point, "Keep your freakin' hands off me!" We're taking our technology in odd directions.
17I do that on the bus!! It gets so loud and its so crowded that its hard to have a conversation. I started using my cell phone to tell gropers that its right to do that a few weeks ago.
18Um yeah you would def hear me
19if that happened to me. Also you
would know cause whoever did it
would be on the ground screaming
in pain
"Secondly, since when does a message on your cell phone scare off perverts?!" Yeah, that was my first thought!
20"I had no idea that there were alot of dirties on congested subway trains in Japan" Ever seen Japanese hentai? And the rape percentage in japan is like the highest in the world.
21Please, I got my skirt lifted up on the train a couple of weeks ago... I doubt a cell phone will deter people like that.
22random. but i think the poster who suggest that it might help people know what to say may be onto something.
23U know what I think ....ur cell phone may also get snatched in such a situation ...there are a lot of these perverts in India too ....there should be a mini gun in the cell phone ..now that will teach them a lesson!!!!!!!!
