Last week the folks over at Unclutterer suggested creating a cable basket to organize all your gadgets. It's an incredibly simple idea, but as you can see from the picture, will keep your cords organized and your primary gadgets stored in one place. Sure, it isn't as elegant or high tech as the Pottery Barn furniture with built-in chargers, but it's definitely a big step toward a cleaner desk or workspace. Do you like the idea? Is it geeky, or geek chic?

Guilty for owning a few of these.
The problem is it won't get used - when you want to charge something, you don't want to have to unwind the charger, plug the charger in, and then plug in your device. What we *really* need is something like a power strip that will charge up all your devices, or at least a power strip with little hanging baskets for your charger/device.
I just went to the link and the guy explains that the chargers are all plugged in underneath the table and there is a hole in the basket to fish the cords through. I think this is a great idea. I am a firm believer in "a place for everything". Right now we have several places in the house where we charge things. I plan to get them more organized and in one area like this.
I like it! maybe i'll make one.
Great idea.
Geek chic? It's a basket!
Umm....the geeksugar picture at the top says petsugar.....
Looks like an ordinary basket to me sooo I guess it's CHIC.
Not only will it help you organize them, but also not lose them.
Great idea.
I have this! I have a basket just for remotes. Then, I have a basket for all my computer cords that I use on a regular basis.
Thanks! I do have some extra baskets just hanging around too.
ok I guess, if you have trouble keeping track of your stuff....
i like this - my gadgets are all over the place and i never know where to put things - like my camera: where should it be stored? it usually sits in my desk drawer or on my shelf, but maybe it is in my bag since i'm trying ot take it out and use it more often.
I like it except the fact that most of the time Im using most of my gadgets so I dont think this will get used. I do have a box full of chargers though, why doesnt someone come up with clip on cable labelers? Now that I would use
As a former electronics repairman (woman) - wrapping your electrical cords so tightly around the item like that really isn't good for them. Causes the metal in the wires to break (especially near the end)- causing your cord to be no good - causing you to spend money on replacements.
Other than that ... pretty nifty idea.
It's a pretty chic idea
its so cute! its a good idea to have a special place for all your tech things so they don't get lost!
We actually keep a shoebox with all our chargers under a futon in our front room. We each have all sorts of gadgets that need to be charged: iPhones, Nintendo DSes, cameras, battery packs, etc. Fortunately, it's near an outlet so it's convenient.
smart!
It's a good idea but I like mine to be more
"put away" Like in a box with a lid
am i missing something? i have baskets holding everything from fruit to makeup to keys to dog toys around my house so this doesn't seem so new to me. just another basket full of related items. women have been doing this for years
its so cluttery to me.
It´s practical...
at least i would not need to look under the couch.
Ok I thought this was a product some company was selling and I was thinking, duh just do it yourself. Guess I should have followed the link. So it's a good diy idea!
When me and my girlfriends went away last summer, we have a Gadget Basket, though we didn't call it that. When we came back from the beach or shops etc, out came our phones, wallets, mp3 players etc. It made for a very organised holiday
I have one of these, but more of a drawer... it even has applicable charges and everything!
