At the super market near me they have a sign posted with a number to call if you see one of their carts around. They now put those wheel locks on, but you know that would be gone in a second.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put these helpful computer screens in the aisles instead of on the carts?

Um, if you want the nutritional information, why wouldn't you just check out the side/back of the packaging?? Besides it would be stolen in minutes.

Wow, I'm surprised this is JUST NOW making the news. My local grocery store growing up did this OVER 10 years ago -- I remember playing with it when I would be dragged along to the grocery store with my mother. In addition to nutritional information and recipes, the touch screens would also tell you in what aisle foods were located and included games to play while you waited in line. They only lasted about 8 months before all the carts were bare again... I'm not sure why they phased them out, but I presume it had something to do with not being cost-effective.

It's a cool idea but stupid people would ruin it.

I'm looking at video screens all day; the last thing I want when I go to the store is to look at another one. Side rant: I hate tvs in the checkout lane, and I avoid the grocery chain in my area that has them.

HORRIFIC - are you people kidding me? This is just a great way for more ads to be thrown constantly in your face and another way to encourage whim spending. It's disgusting, and this is coming from someone who'd much rather bank or do anything online than talk to real people...

I worked for a major retail giant for ten years. Most customers can hardly slide a credit card correctly, much less a shopping cart computer.

what the hell are we eating that we need computers to tell give us nutritional information? Put down the boxes, cans, and frozen crap and get yourself to the meat counter and the produce aisle.

I don't really see the point, but I can see it easily being integrated into a system like Stop & Shop's Shopping Buddy where the tablets are picked up and dropped off at charging stations at the door.

Um yeah I can read so I do not need a cart to tell me what is on the box right in front of me!

I love this! I use one every week, and it's awesome. In addition to adding up how much you're spending, it can also pinpoint where you are in the store to guide you to an item that you are searching for. You can also bag while you shop and skip the grumpy, slow cashiers--just set it to pay when you get to the self checkout! It really is amazing and I can't imagine grocery shopping without it *shudder*

I spend way too much time in my grocery store as it is, and I'm sure this won't raise prices any more than they already are either........
