I know. I know. I'm a tease. I have been taunting you with talk of Samsung's Armani phone for months now. First we heard about it and guessed what it might look like. Then a picture of what may or may not be the "real thing" popped up on the internet, and despite not knowing if the pic was real, we were pleased it looks a lot like we predicted. I finally have some more legitimate news. This week Engadget featured a gallery of pictures of the phone's design and reported it will feature a 3 megapixel camera, 2.6-inch 262K color QVGA touchscreen LCD, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP support, microSD expansion, full Internet browser, and support for H.263, AAC/MP3/WMA audio and MPEG-4 video.

The phone has an additional feature, which could possibly be the most unique cell phone function ever. What is it? read more
According to Daily Mail, the Samsung Armani phone will have an in-built "rape alarm" function that can be activated from inside your pocket or purse.
Described as a 'ground-breaking' achievement, the new phone automatically sends an SOS text message to five pre-programmed family or friend phone numbers, alerting them to danger. Intended for use by anyone being followed suspiciously or finding themselves in any physical danger - but unwilling to provoke attack by getting out their mobile - it is designed to prevent an attack.
What do you think? Would you buy the designer phone (it's priced around $760) for its design and added features?

I love it, it's so cute! I love Samsung, I'm so brand loyal to them! I really want this Armani phone!!!!!
1"What do you think? Would you buy the designer phone (it's priced around $760) for its design and added features?"
No, I would not buy a designer phone for its price and its features.
One reason, price: $760? Err, no thanks.
Second reason, If I were able to afford this and decided to buy it while in a vapid, catatonic stupor, I'd be afraid to use it ("Oh...I really want to use it, but it cost $760, and what if it gets scratched... :/").
Third reason, I have a feeling that people are going to buy this phone, not for functionality, but for the name. The same is true with every other designer looking to make a quick buck by releasing a cell phone.
When I want a cell phone, I'm going to take the time to research and see what's an affordable price for me (my RAZR, which is my first phone, I got for $30 when it first came out).
Anywho, my point is, name and how big of a fashion designer does justify me buying your phone with your logo slapped all over it. Besides, I'm a geek. If you give me one of those old cell phones with a green screen and giant, black, pixelated text, I'd be happy.
Functionality over form, I say.
2Nice to look at but I don't think I will rush out buy one!
3I wouldn't buy it, but I think the "rape alarm" is a cool idea.. if it lets the people know where you are!
4that's a really cool feature. but i agree with breagayle, it's kinda pointless unless they know where you are!
5"Rape "? Is that what makes it so expensive?
6verry nice!
7no thanks.
8I would not buy this phone just for the look or the alarm function. IS this phone going to run on 3G or CDMA?
9There's no way I would spend this much on a phone. I'd like to have a cell phone with the most unique feature of all - one that actually had good phone quality and did not drop calls or blackout during calls. I would be willing to spend some money for that!
10This is so sleek and classy and I wish I could buy it RIGHT NOW!
11yeah....im gonna have to say no. the iphone is better!
12It looks like some type of business phone I don't want.
13its alright. but $760?
14might as well just get the iphone.
even if it lacks a rape alarm.
Don't like it. It's ugly and expensive.
