While there are some people around Sugar HQ that have what Yum calls a "minor French fry problem," I'm not one of them. That might be the reason why it took me so long to notice the McDonald's across the street from the office offers a WiFi connection.
Once considered a luxury, WiFi is a near staple at this point. It's standard in American hotels, airports, new Virgin America planes and pretty much every other coffee shop, library and imaginable place with electrical outlets. But when is enough enough? I can't imagine sitting down in a McDonald's long enough to want to check my e-mail, let alone blog or do any kind of serious work.
I want to know, where is the strangest place, most unexpected place you've noticed a WiFi connection?

LUBE STOP! HELLO!
A funeral home! No joke! While driving from Indiana to Florida I saw it on a billboard!
Rest Stop in Iowa. I needed it the wifi though.
lol funeral home? car wash? we have wi fi at burger king and mcdonalds here but that's all the weird places!
My sister was stuck during a snow storm in a town that wasn't on any map in Pennsylvania and she told me that the greasy spoon diner had a huge sign inside saying, "We have Wi-Fi!".
Swimming pool!
The two best places I have to say are the local food store, and the day care 2 doors down.
at a campground. seriously, who needs wifi when you're CAMPING?!
Laundry mat in NYC.
And I thought our grocery store having it was weird!
Look, just cuz you have wifi and you sell food does not make you an internet cafe!
Some of the buses in Southampton, UK, have wi-fi!
in Osage Beach, MO there's a hole in the wall BBQ place that has WiFi... As if you'd want to do some surfing (or work) after you've eaten some messy (but pretty good) ribs!
By far, the strangest place I've seen wifi is in a nature reserve in Singapore. Though I suppose it could be helpful if you wanted to um... google the species of bug you were looking at.
the bar Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3 or Bdubs) has wireless. it just doesnt seem like a very 'businessy' place at all so i always found it amusing.
NY Thruway rest stops. So you can stop to check your email on long roadtrips
Laundromat, bakery, and bars.
Sad I have used it at the bar before.
I think it's funny when there is WiFi at bars. Are you really going to check your email while doing shots?!
My mechanic's shop has free WiFi. Great idea, since it always seems to take longer than expected to get your car fixed.
My campsite in the middle of nowhere near the Ohio/PA border. There is literally nothing there! I know a lot of McDonald's offer WiFi now
it's a pretty good idea to have wifi at the laundry mat. that way you can surf the net while you're waiting on your clothes!
Yeah WiFi at at the bar! So you can Google the guy that is hitting on you! hahhahaah
all the hospitals around my house have WiFi.... even in the patient rooms.... which is actually a really good idea!
I would love it while I camp. The last time I went camping, I needed to do some work at 5pm on Friday. Seriously. I don't work on Fridays so I just left, hoping that there was free wifi around that I could just log on, run my reports, and be done. However, there wasn't any anywhere. I had to pay $6 at a Starbucks in town to do my 15 min of work. Oh well.
I could've driven another 20-40 miles to a reststop. Along I-90 in WA state there are wifi hotspots along the road...however, I do no know if they're free.
At a payless shoestore, in the middle of a mall. A pet supply shoppe after a 6 mile stretch either way of back road. Annnd a Red Lobster.
At a surf shop on a tiny island on the Outer Banks of NC.
One at Whole Foods and the other at a little Mexican restaurant.
A fancy restaurant. It just seems to tasteless.
Laundromat which I love, especially if the tvs aren't working and there's also this tiny hole in the wall cafe with a table and two seats only. Only two people can sit inside but they have wifi!
Laundry Matt! LOL
Several Texas roadside parks have wifi.
dunno - not many places in New zealand have wi-fi at all
at a bar..who brings their laptop when they go out to drink and dance?
at a cheesy italian restaurant down the street from my house. i think it's called black olives.
I just noticed it at McDonald's.
I picked up a wifi connection in a parking lot outside the doctor's office. Cool!
