It's that time of the year — best of 2009 time! And to kick off our fun, comprehensive coverage of the most popular GeekSugar content from the past year, I thought I'd turn the attention to one of the most talked about topics of 2009 — social networks. I've pitted five of the top ranking social networking sites of '09 against each other, and I can't wait to see which one is your favorite. Some of you have already said that you prefer Facebook over Twitter, but what about the others? Which one will take home the coveted Best of 2009 Sugar Award? Time to weigh in below!

Heals
fb baby
1Where's tumblr? tumblr is my favorite social networking site of 2009
2What is 'Flixster'? Never heard of it before. ANYWAY, I used to support MySpace until I really started using Facebook. Although MySpace has the music pages and whatnot, I think I prefer Facebook much better (cleaner, more organized interface and more addictive games!)
3I adore Twitter. It seems like I'm ALWAYS on Twitter, whether it's on my computer or my iPhone.
4Where's Yelp!?
5Twitter! i do have an fb tho!
6Ugh. HATE 'social networking' nonsense. I thought that was the whole point of email and cell phones...sigh. I just hope that in a thousand years, historians can look back at us and laugh...and not see us as the ridiculous, egotistical, deluded muppets we are.
7Twitter!
8Facebook purely for the games lol.
9Twitter.
10where is the NONE option?
11social networking sites have gone crazy, and literally eliminate the intimacy of personal relationships
i do not have any of the above (and im proud of it!)
Ditto danizzle. Another one here who likes to meet, catch up, and hang with people the old fashioned way...telephone and/or face to face, with e-mails filling in the gaps.
I have serious issues with the so-called privacy features on these sites. You have NO idea where your personal info is really going. I think information is shared much more than you realize.
But, nowadays, so many people don't care about their privacy. They share all of their personal information with people who they barely know or haven't seen or spoken to in months or years. These "friends" don't give a sh!t about little Johnny riding his trike, with 50 pictures included for their viewing pleasure, or what your relationship status. Who really cares about this sh!t, other than your family and close friends, who are going to be in your life and know your personal stuff anyway?
Uggh....off my soapbox now. I just think that it is ironic that people think Facebook keeps them connected, when actually, it does the opposite. Why keep in contact with a personal phone call when you can type in a few words for your 300 "friends" to see?
Just don't get it.
12facebook rules hands down. Twitter is really cool too!
13Myspace isnt so hot anymore, got over advertised and dirty!
Twitter is my pick,love it!
14@xgreenfairyx: ditto. i'm currently laughing. and crying. tears of joy-sad-disappointment.
15I have to disagree with those who hate the social networking sites. I love them! I've re-connected with my best friend who moved away in elementary school...I always wondered about her and now I found her and it's wonderful to see what she's doing now and to see pictures of her and her family.
Also, I have many friends and relatives that live all over the world and it's a cheap and wonderful way to stay in touch with them.
