This week marked the 20th anniversary of the mobile phone and glam sugar had the fantastic idea that we should all share our first cell phone.
While I sadly can't recall or find a photo of my first cell phone, it was a chunky Nokia that looked a bit like the one at right. It was at least twice the thickness of the iPhone and housed a humongous battery. Chic or not, I loved it. It was an extreme upgrade from my pager (yes, I had a pager!) and meant I had a new kind of freedom and accessibility.

4a motorola microtac that I had to share (along with a red 1987 buick skyhawk) with my sister,
then a Nokia 6160 with a green faceplate,
then a Nokia 3100 (Ooo! flashing lights! vibrates to the music!),
and now a sweet green pebl that I still love even after a couple of years

7Mine was in 1988 and was wires into the car. My husband had a bag phone, then the one that looked like and weighed as much as a cement brick. I don't know if I feel like digging up pictures.

9Yes, really (technically it was my parents' but I remember dragging that thing around in my school bag a number of times.).
I'm seventeen, and I got my first cellphone in 2002. A blue Nokia 2280! I hated it until I bought a little see-through plastic covering that made it actually cute.

I even had an Emily Strange faceplate on it!
13About 2000, 2001...it came with a blue and an orange gel cover that you had to pull over it like a glove. So ugly...I remember just wondering why I couldn't get a nice little Nokia with a snap on face plate...oy
14i don't remember mine. motorola of some kind...pay as you go. it was from 2001. my first and only cell phone. i rarely used it and haven't needed to do so since i got rid of it maybe a year later.

17Mine was the Nokia 5190, with an Emily Strange faceplate. It's similar to the image that dali137 linked above, so maybe we had the same phone.
*sigh* I miss my first cell phone. It was so simple, no schnazz, it just did what it was supposed to do - send and receive calls! It got the BEST reception and never failed on me. I still have the user manual.

20My first phone was a Nokia 6185. It looked a lot like the 5190 pictured above. I had it for 2 years, and then got another Nokia in 2003 for Christmas. I had it until 2005, which is when I signed up with Cingular.
21I currently have a Samsung SYNC, and I love it!
My first cell phone was a Nokia back in 1999. They don't have it on the list posted above of old Nokia's so I can't really show it to you. It was a flip phone and it was a brushed pewter colour. It was awful looking now that I think of it. I was just happy to have a phone.

25Haha, I was totally on the Nokia 5100 series bandwagon. I needed it, with a car like mine not having a way of calling AAA would've been suicide!
