We're still a few weeks away from the launch of the Barnes and Noble Nook ($259), but I have a feeling it could be in the running to become one of my new favorite gadgets! I loved the Kindle when it first hit the shelves, and the Nook is definitely stacking up to its eReader competition. Its sleek design, controls and touch screen just scream for someone to pick it up, while the accessories and designer covers make me drool.

I've had my Sony Reader for almost two years and I'm definitely ready to upgrade! The nook is on my Christmas list and I really, really hope I get one. (My husband wants my Reader anyway.) The Reader has been one of my favorite gadget buys so I'm really looking forward to the nook.
1I already pre-ordered the Nook and I cannot wait until it finally gets here!
2I just ordered the Nook for my husbands Christmas gift. (btw order now because mine isn't shipping until dec 18th!) I hope he will love it, he made one small hint about wanting a Reader, but this is also the same guy who doesn't believe in buying new technology.
3i just wish there was an Ereader specifically for students. While looking at college requirements i'd need to pull a red wagon around to carry all the books i'll need. and they're all at least 75 bucks USED. and ereader would be very nice to have, but none of the companies outside of amazon so far carry any textbooks.
4ohhh I've gotta put my hands on one!!!
5If only I could afford one!
6SkinnyMarie: I was at Barnes & Nobel yesterday and saw that they were to start shipping on Dec. 14th and wondered about that. Did they change the release date? I was beginning to think I was going crazy because I swore they were supposed to release on Nov 20th or 30th.
7Akasha: I think they they are trying to make sure that they have enough stock for the holidays. I looked at pre-ordering one a few days before I placed my order and the ship date then was 12/11. I figure its demand that is pushing back the ship dates.
8These seem nice to use. I'm getting one.
9i am not sure if this will be available in Canada, but i am not actually very keen on this platform for reading. I prefer books.
10@flickster Try looking at other online sites aimed at college e-textbooks. As long as they are available in ePub or PDF, then you could put them on a Nook.
@Akasha B&N sold out of their initial run that was to ship in November. The second run (also sold out) is set to ship on Dec. 7th. Currently, they are on their third run of pre-orders and they will ship Dec. 11th.
