Vudu is a small peer-to-peer video on demand device that will offer access to more than 5,000 movies directly to your TV, without requiring a PC or Cable TV service. The device will be released sometime before the end of summer and cost less than $500. It will give users the ability to buy or rent movies — ones they might otherwise Netflix — and download them via their broadband internet connection. We made a sneak peek video of the Vudu interface a few weeks ago, but we weren't able to give a close up look at the device until now. Très chic, no?

Ohhhh. Very sexy. Me like. Me also want.
1I like this too! I have an Apple TV but the videos on demand option on this model rocks! I'm going to need a bigger receiver with more input jacks for my TV.. too many devices!
2ooh and it's yummy designed too!
3When the price comes down a lot, I might consider something like this, depending on if the subscriber fee isn't too scary. I liked Netflix but hated having to watch movies constantly in order to feel like I was getting my money's worth.
I'm surviving off Redbox in my grocery store for new releases and a niche video store for older stuff currently. Much cheaper!
4i wonder about the monthly fee it too... sounds like a good idea, i too hate using netflix since i always have to hit the post office b/c the postman always comes at dif. times so i can't hand him my movies
and the local bluckbusters have nothing but new flicks which sucks b/c ive
already seen the ones i want, since i practically live in the theatre.
5me likey! fancy!
6You can already do that with TIVO's new collaboration with Amazon. The Tivo box downloads it from amazon automatically... and you can order new movies from your computer at work and have it downloaded and ready to go when you get home!
