A couple months ago I pointed out the fact that Pottery Barn is pushing "Smart Tech" to the masses with a line of furniture and desk accessories that integrate chargers and better hide cords. Turns out, the company is really serious about the line, even going so far as to put one of the designs on the front cover of their September catalog along side a pretty iPhone, iPod, shuffle and Canon camera.
For the most part the pieces look like regular Pottery Barn ballyhoo, but connect your high-tech accessories to power while keeping their cords discreet. The line isn't so "smart" that it can serve you up a cold one or park your car, or even wirelessly charge your gadgets, but the integration of cords and speakers does make your living space cleaner. Would you buy it?

I love it and would buy it, but I seem to remember it being overpriced.
For sure I would, if it wasn't too pricey, it's a great idea with all the technology of today!
I wouldn't only because I don't buy desks from companies like pottery barn. Their style doesn't match what they are trying to sell unless im 45. There is a great company called doug mockett that makes power grommets and some pretty cool things to add to your after market furniture.
But I design and build my own desks.
I just saw it at Pottery Barn yesterday, and while it would definitely match my own desk at home, I think it's overpriced. If it was $40, maybe I'd consider it, but considering that I can buy a shuffle at the price they'rea asking for, no thanks.
I wish I was crafty enough to design my own tech furn. Pottery Barn attracts those who have much loooooonger paper than myself.
I like the look of Pottery Barn furniture but you can buy pretty much the same things other places that don't have the name on them and are hundreds of dollars less. I do like the concept they're pushing though. A bit unnecessary, but that's life today.
it's nice they are integrating high tech stuff into furniture but that price is pretty steep. Wouldn't mind getting this stuff if it was reasonably priced
Of course it is probably easier and cheaper to just drill holes in my existing furniture...
Nope.
I love the idea. Finally there is a stylish answer to all of those wires! I have a loft and with all the open space, it is nearly impossible for me to hide the wires for everything in a way that really works. This would be great for my home.
MAYBEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE but ... i prollie wont use it... knowing how i am. lol
I think it's a great idea. I haven't priced it yet but based on everyone's comments I doubt it's worth the money. I agree with others that say it's cheaper to drill holes in my current furniture.
I would get that for sure! I hate having 50 million chargers all over!
I like the idea, I think soon there will be more furniture of this nature that would be so much more useful!
Nah. I always go for pretty over functional, besides, I don't own that many gadgets.
Totally! I was just having a whinge about all the cables earlier tonight! Like, it's not like I can cut down on my gadgets! I NEED THEM ALL!!! Hehe.
i would buy it - i like the simple styling of the products.
Perfect for keeping the "little one" out of the cords. Too bad Pottery Barn is pricey.
I love the idea, I wouldn't pay what they are asking.
I love this.
I would if the furniture were better quality. Regrettably all I've seen is cheap and tacky.
