4whoa! it is not "unethical". there is nothing "ethical" about making a phone that can only be used by certain cell phone carriers.
i'm not a pro-hacker by any means, but unlocking a phone so it is open to both cingular and t-mobile users seems pretty ethical to me!
a hell of a lot more ethical than having to renew my contract by a year or two just because i want a new phone.
