Now that the new iPod Nano is here, we're all elated at the fact that it features a larger, 2.2-inch LCD display and a built-in FM radio tuner, but the best part has got to be the included video camera. Being the owner of a Flip Video Camera — which is pocket-sized and very user friendly — I was tempted to see if the video quality on the new Nano is comparable to the Flip. The NewTeeVee crew decided to put both to the test in a side-by-side comparison.
As you'll see, the Flip quality is much better than the Nano, but if you were to compare the Nano to some cell phone video cameras, the Nano would win. Considering the fact that the 8GB Nano (which records up to eight hours of footage) only costs $149, it's not too shabby for a camera that you can easily put in your purse or back pocket — and hey, it even plays music!

oh cool! that's really helpful because I was tempted by the iPod Nano camera offering. I don't think the quality makes it quite worth it yet, but I'm sure Apple will nail that soon.
1At the top of the video frame:
Audio: iPod Nano
or
Audio: Flip SD
You go back and forth through the video so we can compare audio. I was waiting for this from the very start of the video. It would be an embarrassing lapse to not have thought of this, but the fact that you MENTION IT DURING THE FILMING and still failed to do so... you guys lose all geek cred.
