Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto showed up at this week's E3 to demonstrate a brand-new fitness game called Wii Fit and while I wasn't present, I'm pretty excited about the idea. The game looks like it will be similar to the ever popular mat game Dance Dance Revolution, and will take measurements of your body and plot your fitness levels over time. Apparently, if you're feeling a little cocky you can even plot your stats against your friends'.
According to Technabob, the small, flat controller, called the “Wii Balance Board,” lays on the ground and detects your body movements as you exercise. It can also measure your body mass index to show you your progress as you regularly work out. Looks like FitSugar and I are going to have a new obsession! OK, I tried every single European capital as a departure city and it said that that city is not in their database...
Guess this site just for US people?
And a message keeps popping up: This is beta version, bla bla
The idea is great, but they need to work on this technical small things
1LOL this comment was supposed to be about that travel web site... My mistake, sorry
2my bf and i bought a wii the day it came out, and we LOVE the wii sports game. you can work up a huge sweat, and it helps us have some friendly competition. this game looks AWESOME and we cannot wait to buy it!!
3This looks pretty interesting, maybe it'll encourage me to excercise, lol.
4This is cool enough for me to go get the Wii
5Wow! I can't wait to try this!
6This. Looks. Awesome!
7This sounds like mad fun can't wait to get one of those boards and play until I drop.
8I'm really excited about this. Since it can detect shifts in your balance, imagine a skateboarding or surfing game where you lean back and forth to control your onscreen character.
9I can't wait for Wii Fit! I love Wii Sports, too, you can really get a good workout on the boxing.
10I agree with the above posts. T wouldn't compare this to Dance Dance Revolution but to WiiSports. This is great, it's like having a personal trainer.
11This looks very cool! I would love to try this out.
12i'd be interested in this, i think.
13Watching that video makes me glad that I own a Wii.
Most of the games offer a little bit of a work out anyway but having a game and that miraculous balance board will be fantastic. But even playing a game not associated with working out like Rayman: Raving Rabids is a tough work out for your arms and incredibly fun to boot.
The Wii is just about the most perfect gaming system. There are brain games, exercise games and just pure fun games... Can anyone tell I LOVE the Wii?
14This looks completely amazing. I need this- NOW.
15All I have to say is GENIUS!!!
16Encouraging
17I can't wait to get a Wii!!! If I can find one...
18Man, every day I love Nintendo more and more.
19Omg when does it come out?I just bought my kids a Wii 2 wks ago and even my 3yr is good at it.I can't wait I'll definitely be buying one.I hate getting outside or on my elliptical so maybe this being part of our video game will motivate me,lol.
20can't find one http://www.google.com yet
21My sis and me can wait to get this add on. read about the wii fitness boards from here http://www.ecbiz.co.uk/wii-info.htm ... all it says is that the wii boards are comming to the uk soon no price as yet either, but i'll keep u posted
22I'd love to get a wii, but haven't sprung for it yet. I think a great alternative is a last gen system (XBOX, PS2) and a BodyPad controller.
I've posted a blog with some videos using the the BodyPad fighting system. It's similar to the Wii in that you can throw real punches to throw punches in-game, but different in that it works with PS2 and XBOX. It also allows for kicks so that you can control most fighting games.
These are all games I own and play regularly with the BodyPad system. 19 games so far.
