I can't decide which is worse- the first ever e-mail ad or the first cell phone commercial from 1989 shown below. Both definitely deserve vintage geek awards, but I'd have to say that this hilarious video which was posted on adfreak is downright over the top! I'll try not to spoil it, but in forty-three seconds there's time for a swim, jeep ride, mini safari and boat ride. Come on, that is nothing compared to what the iPhone can do!

Hey, my grandpa had that cell phone! Lol I think my mom still has it somewhere. I remember the first time my girlfriend and I went to the mall together alone my mom made me bring her cell, it was the first flip one I belive, and it ran in a crowed shop and I was SO EMBARASSED!
1wow have big time's have changed
2Now that sucker was big. lol I had my first cell phone in the late 90s. They were selling them through my mother's job, but by that time they were much smaller, but still bigger than what they are now. And of course, they had that big battery pack. LOL But it was a flip though.
3you would almost need another purse to carry it. if i had one from back then, i would be scare to touch it. i don't think i trust it's wiring.
4When I see those huge phones I always think of Zack Morris on Saved By The Bell because he had one. He was soooooooo cool with his ginormous cell phone!
I love the music on that ad though. It cracked me up.
5haha, Mary, me too. Remember when he had Screech rig the radio contest so he could be the winning caller while in detention, and Mr. Belding ended up winning the prize because of his little tree thing?
I had a toy replica of this phone, and then for Christmas one year, my dad bought two of the original flip phones. And it was SOO expensive to talk. Strange how I don't like flip phones without an outer display because of caller id. But then, there was no caller id for phones then. No one called you unless it was an emergency lol
6wow, those vids are great, clever, and good to see how long we have come
7I saw this with no sound and he looks like he is trying to find a good signal. LOL
8Hahaha Marynanabanana, I was gonna write the exact same thing!
9that music cracks me up!
10omfg...awesome.
11Hahahaha! Oh priceless!
Let me take my cell phone on a safari real quick!!
12OH dear!
13When you think about it... this was revolutionary back then.
14i think i missed the safari.
15roflmao! Wow, we sure have come a long way... I remember calling my friend on my dad's flip phone like 14 years ago! Craziness..
